North Platte, NE
I-80 Lakeside Campground
Another short day today. We got on the road around 9:30 AM. It is a straight shot on I80 to our next campground. I had left a voice mail at the base campground in Cheyenne, WY to get a reservation. When I didn't hear from them by noon I called to see about a reservation. They told me they didn't have anything for our size so I started looking for other campgrounds and moving the schedule around. About 1 hour later the campground called and told me they had one spot we could use for the 2 days. Yeah! Now I had to call campgrounds to see if I was going to have problems getting in for the Labor Day weekend. I forgot this weekend was a holiday. Anyway, after a few phone calls I was able to get 4 nights in Rawlins, WY at Red Desert Rose Campground. It used to be called RV World Campground. We stayed here when it was called that. So we will be sitting for 4 days waiting for the holiday to be over, Then we will head home and should be there by Saturday, Sept 9.
We are stopped for tonight at the I-80 Lakeside Campground. It used to just be called Lakeside Campground. It isn't much but is a good parking spot just off I80. We have a water/electric site.
After getting setup and before it got too warm Bill took Lola out to play with her Frizbee. She really loved that.
I decided we would go out to dinner since we have no food left in the fridge. I haven't restocked from the fridge failure. I plan on shopping when we get to Cheyenne. We did stop at Walmart after dinner so I have something to cook tomorrow. I had looked up restaurants on Trip Advisor and had picked a place called Merrick's. Well we went there but it was closed since it was Monday night. They didn't have a website so that information wasn't available. So I looked something else up and we wound up at Lincoln Highway Diner. It is a small local place. Everyone in there seemed to know each other. Bill had liver and I had chicken fried steak. The food was good and the prices were better. I also found a car wash and my car looks black again instead of gray.
These guys were cleaning their rigs and were making Bill feel guilty, but not guilty enough to wash ours. I think he plans of doing that over the next weekend.
so we are in for the night. We have a longer drive tomorrow so we will go to bed early. Night.
