Forest City, IA Day 2

Friday, 8/25/2017
Forest City, IA
Lichtsinn RV

The day started dark and early.  We got up around 6:00 AM (what a terrible hour to wake up) and got the rig ready to move to get it in service by 7:30 AM.  We decided not to eat breakfast before turning in the rig but that I would drive over to Hardee's (Carl's Jr for those on the west coast) and get biscuits and gravy for breakfast once we got settled in the lounge.  at about 7:15 we pulled the rig up to the service bays.  When the service guy got there he went over the things we needed done and they took the rig.  We went into the lounge and got settled in.  Once I found out they had coffee and tea in there I took off and got breakfast.  I was surprised at how good the biscuits and gravy were.

We hung around the lounge all day.  Bill kept taking Lola outside to walk around as neither one of them could site still for long.  I worked on my computer, talked to others in the lounge and read my Kindle.  We knew we were going to be here all day so I came prepared.

Around lunch we drove into town and got a sandwich at the Subway.  We were going to eat in the park across the street but it was too cold and windy so back to the lounge we went.  We spent a lot of the time watching the weather channel and info on Hurricane Harvey.  There are two ladies here who are picking up their rig.  They live in the Houston area but because of the hurricane their insurance won't allow their coverage to start so they can't drive off in the rig!  It has something to do with their address being in the path of the hurricane and flooding.  I had never heard of anything like that.  So they are stuck in Forest City, IA until later this week to see if they can get insurance.

It took all day for our rig to get finished.  They fixed the air conditioner, put a new cooling unit on the refrigerator and did something to the roof.  Because Winnebago is only 1 mile down the road they can get their parts quickly.  If they know by noon what they need the parts are delivered by 2:00.  We needed a couple more parts for the air conditioner so while they were waiting for those they worked on the refrigerator and roof.  It was after 5:00 PM when everything was finished.  The fridge is cooling down and the air blows cool.

We parked the rig in the parking lot and I fixed a light dinner.  I warmed up chicken I cooked a couple of days ago with mashed potatoes and carrots.  We are settled in and keeping an eye on the temperature in the fridge.  It will be tomorrow morning before it is ready to put anything in.  We will leave here then.

I hope your day was good.  Bye
