Las Vegas, NV
Nellis AFB Famcamp
We had a short drive of 150 miles today. We left around 9:15 AM. We were ready and knew we were headed to a military base where we could check in early so we left. We drove to St George and stopped for fuel at the Maverick (I15 at exit 15)/ They have a set of pumps separate for trucks and RV's. Anyway, while we were there a guy pulled up next to us and checked our tires. Turns out the left rear inside dually was cupping and wearing wrong. We pulled into his shop at the next exit and had to get a new tire. When they pulled it off Bill said it was in really bad shape. The guy said he thinks it is the shock on that side that caused it. All the other tires were fine. It didn't cost as much as I thought it might and now I feel comfortable finishing our trip. I know that some of these guys are rip off artists but this guy was pretty honest. After about an hour we were on the road again. We are going to have the shocks looked at when we get home.
We are at the Famcamp at Nellis AFB, it is called Desert Eagle. We have stayed here before. There have been a few jets flying overhead but nothing irritating.
It was about 102 degrees when we got into our site. We got setup and rested a bit while the air conditioner worked to cool the rig off. After a rest we decided to go out to dinner. This is our last shot at a Cracker Barrel so that is where we went. I had the Country Fried Steak and Bill had the turkey breast dinner. They were both good but service was a bit slow. We went to the one in North Las Vegas and it is a newer store. It is setup different from any other Cracker Barrel we have been in. It is a lot more open. I didn't find anything in the store that I couldn't live without.
The clouds rolled in and it rained a bit while we were at dinner. That helped to cool things off. As the sun is going down it is cooler and cooler. I hope it gets nice and cool tonight.
After we returned to the rig we started packing stuff. I wanted to get the things packed that would require us to open slides at home. That is mostly bedroom closet and drawers. I also have a cabinet in my kitchen that cannot be accessed without the slide open so I cleaned that out. I also got rid of stuff in the refrigerator that I don't need or want.
So that is all for today. We head home tomorrow. Yeah!
