Hemet-Needles-Williams
After the campout we went to my folks house in Hemet, CA. We are going to stay here until Tuesday morning when we take off. On Sunday we had to drive in to the house and get the Suzuki which was sitting in the driveway. We took it back to Hemet and will hook it up to the rig to tow it across country. We are spending a couple of days with my folks before we leave. We are torn between leaving family here and not seeing the family that is back east.
Tuesday dawned bright and we got everything ready to go. We were on the around around 9:30 AM. We are taking a weird way this time. We want to be in Needles tonight so we are taking I10 to US95 and then up to Needles. It is a drive of about 263 miles. It felt weird to be driving my car and following Bill and not being in the same vehicle. Lola isn't much of a conversationalist either. I talk to her but she doesn't talk back. She is riding with me as she has a habit of sitting next to Bill and then slowly backing up and getting in the way of his driving foot. With me she sits in the passengers seat and I roll the window down when she asks. I can also control when and if she gets in and out of the car better than the RV. We stopped at one rest area and one side of the road place to let her out and to let us stretch our legs along the way. We pulled into the Needles KOA around 2:00 PM. We have never stayed here before but it is right next door to the Desert View RV park that we stopped at in June. Same type of layout and even though it was a KOA the price was about the same.
Wednesday morning came early and we got on the road a bit before 9:00. Just as we were getting unhooked the park lost power. We just fired up the generator to finish powering things down and getting unhooked and we were on our way. We stopped at the Flying J in Kingman, AZ for fuel. Our friends will recognize this Flying J as the one that gets really messed up between the RV's and the trucks. In fact, the last time we were here with the group, Terry had to go to a station down the street since it was so bad. He even went off and left Lydia! We didn't want to stop for fuel in Calif due to the high price because of the tax. We paid $3.039 for diesel in Kingman, AZ today. A big difference from the $3.559 we paid in Hemet! I paid $2.300 for regular in my car! Glad to be out of CA and the high prices. We are stopped for the night at the Canyon RV and Motel in Williams, AZ. They say it is suppose to get down to freezing tonight. Funny, since it is 59 right now. We will have to unhook the water before we go to bed. Bill will dump in the morning.
So that is all for today. I think we are going out to dinner tonight. It is nice to have my car not hooked up so we don't have to do that to go somewhere.
