Back again

I talked to our friend, Terry, the other day and he said I needed to post more frequently so here goes.

We haven't been doing much, just puttering around the house.  We did have the kids over one weekend for a "grill-out", which is what they call it here.  Aimee brought some ribs and I was lucky to find a tri tip steak at the Commissary on base.  Ohio doesn't like that cut of meat and the stores and butcher shops don't sell it.  I even tried to special order one but they wouldn't do it.  Cutting a tri tip changes the way the rest of the meat is cut and they don't want to do that.  The next time I am at the Commissary I will buy whatever they have and freeze them.  I guess it is a Calif thing.  We had a really good meal.  I made the side dishes the day before so all we had to do was heat them up and put dressings on the salad.  We had nice weather so we sat outside and watched Rory run up and down trying to fly his kite.  He did get it up a few times.  We did meet out backyard neighbors.  They have a little boy who is 4 so Rory and he had a good time playing together.

Bill and I have both pulled muscles in our backs.  Bill did his a few weeks ago and I did mine this last Monday.  We both did it while gardening.  I hope we get the gardens into shape soon so we don't have so much to do.  I was lucky that I had an appointment with my rheumetologist on Wednesday and was able to get some muscle relaxers.  It is doing better now but I am not doing a lot.  She said to give it a couple of weeks.  Oh joy!

I finally got a start date for the finishing of my kitchen.  It should be starting on Monday and will take about a week.  Yeah!  I will post pics as it is going along.  They will be putting in the countertops, the back splash and the tile floor.  That will be the finish for inside the house.  We also made a down payment on a patio installation.  That work should be done in mid-August.  Too bad most of summer will be over by the time we get it done but that is how things go. The patio will be made out of payers instead of poured concrete.  I have had the worst luck getting quotes on the concrete and the wait for them is what caused the time delay.  If I had just gone with the pavers when I first got their quote that work would have been done by now.  If you know anyone who wants to do construction in Ohio there are a lot of companies looking for workers!

We had the batteries from the rig here at the house and charged them.  When we put them back in the rig everything ran fine.  We have an appointment on June 4 to take it in to have the work done.  They asked if we could wait until after the Memorial Day holiday as they have a lot of rigs they are trying to get out for then.  Since we didn't plan on going anywhere for the holiday we said fine.

Nick and Aimee bought a new car last weekend.  They got an Acura.  We babysat Rory for the 6 or so hours they were gone.  They knew he wouldn't be able to stand being at the dealership that long.  The neighborhood kids were out so mostly all we did was keep an eye on him in the backyard.  The car looks really good and they are happy with the deal they made.

End of the school year is coming up for Rory so we will be making a schedule to pick him up a couple of days a week to take him to the park and stuff while Aimee works.  We plan on going camping locally a couple of times too.  We will being Lola for that.

So that is what is happening with us.  Hope you have a good day.

I am glad to see things are going well, except for the back problems! So far I am doing well. Had to go to ophthalmologist due to diabetes and nagging doctor. Last time was 4 years ago and supposed to go each ear. Doctor was concerned after it so scheduled me to have another check in 6 months (Nov) to see progression. Told me not to worry right now!! Randy took me and good thing as could not see at all in light due to the dilation! Took several hours so he pampered me and cooked for me. Wonderful guy. Sounds like you need 4 ft tall raised garden beds! No bending over then.
