Living Life

It has been a couple of weeks since I posted.  We have been busy living life.  We had the littles over for a 4 days weekend.  Lola was very good and Rory was also.  I hit the wall around 10:00 AM on Sunday but overall it was a good weekend.  I had bought a kite to try out and we did get it in the air for a little bit.  Not much wind when we tried.

We went to the Boomshoft Discovery Museum in Dayton on Friday and spent a couple of hours there.  Since I have passes to the zoo we got in at half price.  I don't think it would have worth full price but Rory had fun.

On Saturday we went to the zoo in Cincinnati.  The weather was nice and we had a good time.  I let him get his face painted to look like a cheetah, which is his spirit animal.

We walked around and saw many animals.  There were a few baby animals too.  By the time we got home I was tired.

Bill and I have been planting flowers and herbs around the house, and more of our tulips are coming up.

The yard and garden are coming along nicely.  Now I just need a patio.  We did sign a contract for that but won't get the work done until Aug.  I waited too long for quotes from companies that never came through.  I am still waiting for the work on my kitchen to be started.  I hope that will be any day now.

I signed up for a meal delivery service called Hello Fresh.  I was getting tired of having the same thing every week.  You know how you get in a rut with cooking.  We get 3 meals a week for the 2 of us.  I got our first order this week and so far so good.  You get a box with the necessary ingredients for each meal in a bag.  They send everything you need except things like salt and pepper, butter and oil.  But I have those things.  You also get cards with the step by step instructions.  I have made 2 of the meals and they were good.  The first was a salmon dish and the second was maple pork chops.

Salmon with couscous and an arugula and apple salad.
Maple pork chops with mashed sweet potatoes and garlic green beans.

I used a smaller plate for the pork chops so it looks crowded but it was a nice size portion.  I have a chicken dish to try tonight.  So far I like it.  I had a 50% off discount for this week so only paid $30 for the food.  Next week at full cost will be $60.  About what I would pay for the ingredients at the store but I don't have to think up the meals.  You can skip weeks and cancel at any time.  I think we will try it for a bit.

We are going to be taking the rig in to have the work done that wasn't finished in Nov soon.  Then we are going to try camping a bit.  We plan to take Rory during the week for a few days and try out local campgrounds.  I am thinking of cancelling our Directv in the rig since we won't be using it that much.  We will see what happens.

That is all, May the Fourth be with You.
