FMCA rally

Bill and I went to our first FMCA rally last week.  We left on Monday, the 6th, and arrived in Amana, Iowa on Wednesday, the 8th.  We spent one night in Champaign, IL on the way to and from the rally.  We stayed at D & W Lake RV resort.  We have never been there before but it was a nice park.  Our site was directly in front of the lake.

The rally itself was held at the Amana Colonies RV Park in Amana, IA.  We have stayed at this park a number of times in our travels along I80.  We chose this rally as this park has mostly all 50 amp full hookups.  There were a few sites that were only water and electric but we had full hookups.  We had a good time.  There was a catered dinner on Friday and a catered breakfast on Saturday.  On Thursday and Friday they had donuts and coffee in the morning.  There were a number of seminars and activities.  On Friday night and Saturday night there was live entertainment.  On Thursday night the showed a movie in the hall with popcorn.  They gave the number of rigs as 212 on Wednesday night but I know that more came in after that.  The weather was warm on most days.  We did have a bit of rain one day.  There was also a women's tea on Saturday which I attended.  All in all we had a good time.

Views of the rigs at the campground.

Rusty Rierson - he put on a really good show.

Planet Groove - they were not bad but the horns were a bit loud.

We left the rally on Sunday and got home on Monday afternoon.  Both days were about 250 miles of driving.  Once home we emptied the rig and let it set overnight before taking it back to storage.  It was fun to be out camping again and we have now signed up to go camping with a local FMCA group in Sept.  If we like the group we will go with them in Oct.  Camping generally stops at the end of Oct out here.  That is when you need to winterize your rig and get it settled in for the winter.

That is all for now.  Have a good day.
