Lots of things happening

Wow, it has been awhile since I posted.  Life has been hectic.  October was fairly quiet but Nov has been mad.  Towards the end of Oct I got a call from my Mom telling me that Dad was in the hospital.  He had contracted aspiration pneumonia.  I don't know why but they took him to Hemet Hospital.  It is well known in the area that this isn't the best hospital around.  They kept him for a day or so then sent him to a rehab place.  He got worse so they took him to Loma Linda hospital.  My brother said he wasn't looking good so we decided to go ahead and fly out.  So on halloween morning we got on a plane and flew out.  We decided to fly Frontier Airlines.  I haven't flown on the airline in a long time but it was the cheapest flights.  We had a layover in San Antonio, TX then on to Orange County, CA.  The flight wasn't bad but the seats did not recline so it wasn't the most comfortable.  The first leg of the trip was packed but the second leg the flight was half empty so we had the 3 seats to ourselves.  Once in OC we rented a car and drove to Hemet.

Long story short, we spent 2 weeks there, going home on the 13th.  I worked on getting their finances figured out and what was on Dad's computer.  I got Mom to consolidate all their accounts under once financial planner.  That will make future paperwork easier.

Dad spent about a week or so in the hospital during which he had a procedure to look at his lungs and breathing.  During this procedure he stopped breathing as he had a reaction to the anesthesia.  They put in a breathing tube and he was not happy with that.  We finally got that removed and he seemed to be getting better.  We had him transferred to a different rehab place in Hemet that he liked better.  He spent about a week there then went on hospice at Jim's house.  This occurred on Friday, the 16th.  He passed on Tuesday night, the 20th.  Mom will be moving in with Jim & Cindy as she can't drive due to her eyesight and can't stay in Hemet alone.  At lease she is closer now and the boys don't have that 2 hour drive to get there.  She will be selling the house soon, once they get everything taken care of.  I contacted the National Cemetery and made the arrangements for Dad's service.  He will be cremated and the remains buried.  Mom will be buried with him when she passes.  Now I know the process to go through when Bill passes.  The service will be sometime in Jan.  We have to decide if we are flying back out and for how long.  I have been taking care of what I can from here and the boys are taking care of stuff out there.

About a week after we got home I started having trouble with my right knee.  I went to the doctor and had xrays taken.  They are worried that the knee replacement is failing.  I didn't fall or anything so don't know why it is acting up now.  I have an appointment with an Ortho doctor in early Dec.  This pretty much means we won't be dancing for awhile.  I hope I don't have to have surgery on it but am not holding my breath on that.  Can't think of anything else they can do.  It bums me out that I can hardly walk.

We are still in the process of getting our trust rewritten and all that taken care of.  It keeps getting more and more complicated.  I understand all the finances and things but it is not my favorite thing to spend time on.  We are looking for a new financial planner that is local to help out.  I need to consolidate my accounts under on planner.  Have to wait and see what I do, probably after the first of the year.

Since my leg hurts so much I have been doing my Christmas shopping online.  Got most of it done.  Now I just need to think of something for Nick and Aimee.  Maybe a new dishwasher.

I will try to keep the blog a little more up-to-date in the future, but don't hold your breath.
