Things have been busy. We planned on going camping April 24-28 with the group. We got the rig out of storage and over to be dewinterized. We had some other small things to have worked on, one being some parts that the slide uses to go in and out. They had trouble finding the parts and they didn't come in before we needed the rig. We said we would take it anyway and return it after the campout. Well, we got it home. plugged it in and did some cleaning. The fridge started cooling down. Later in the day we noticed it was not cooling. We turned it off and on and it seemed to be working again. The next morning it still was not cool so Bill drove it over to the service place and they did a reset on it. It seemed to be working again. Later that day it was warm again so we cancelled our trip and took it back to service. They are going to check it out. Turns out our cooling unit is shot. We have already changed it out 3 times. This is the first time we will have to pay since our warranty has expired. We decided to try a different manufacturer. This time we are going to put in the "Amish" unit. It is suppose to be much better than the Norcold one. We will see. Hopefully we will get to go camping in May.
The rain let up for a day or two so we got to take the boat out and try it out. The first trip wasn't that successful. It was really windy and we had trouble getting it up on plane. It was also really windy. We were out less than an hour and went in. We were not sure if it was a mechanical problem or user error. We stopped by a service shop on our way home and the person to talk to wasn't in. The sales guy said he didn't see any problems. When the service person called a couple of days later she said they couldn't get it in until September! By then boating season will be almost over! I asked if there were any other shops and she gave me a name. I called and talked to a guy there and he said there were a couple of things that could be wrong and he had about a 2 week window for service. We decided to take it out on Sunday and try it again before putting it in the shop. Nick and Rory decided to go with us. It was a nice day but there were a lot more people on the lake and launching their boats. We got it launched and got underway. Don't know what was wrong the first time but it seemed to work fine this time. The engine seemed to run a bit rough so we will take it to service on Monday to have the engine serviced, just in case. Anyway, we spent about 2 hours on the lake. It was really fun.
Rory didn't especially like having to wear the life vest but he had a good time. We will go back again when we get the boat back. With summer coming we will be able to go out whenever we want. The lake is really big (Caesar Creek Lake), it stays light later in the night and there are no launch fees. Bill and I will go during the week and take the kids out in the evening or weekends. The lake gets crowded on weekends but we will do it anyway. Rory wants to go fishing so we will have to get him a pole.
We are going to be doing a little gardening soon. We bought some mulch and plan on replacing some plants that I don't like. We also have some tulips that grow but don't flower so I will probably get rid of those. I want to plant some lavender to keep bugs away, and I like the smell. There is also some ground cover I want to plant.
My knee is coming along fine. I can go up and down stairs pretty well. It is still a bit tender sometimes but is doing fine.
Rory gets out of school on the 30th of May so we are thinking about taking him with us camping. Hopefully the 3 hour drive won't bother him. I hope the weather is good. May in Ohio can be a bit rainy.
So that is all for now. Have a good spring.
