Did you miss me?

It has been a busy summer so I haven't posted.  Sorry about that.  I will try to bring you up to date.

We have had Rory every Wednesday through the summer.  We take him places and have fun with him.  This gives Aimee time to herself.  I know she really appreciates this.

We took Rory to a local KOA for a few days.  It was the first we have taken the rig out in a bit.  Everything seemed to be working fine there.  Rory had a good time even though it was a bit cool.  He was a bit disappointed that we could not get a fire going, the wood we bought was wet, so we had s'mores from the microwave.  We were parked right across from the playground so he was able to see if there were kids out from the front window.

We also took him to a place called Young's Dairy.  They have some things for kids to do and they can see some animals.  We bought some food and as we were feeding the goats one of them took the cu out of my hands, tipped it back, and ate the food!  Rory went down the big slide and we played mini golf.  There were some other things to do but I didn't take pictures of those.  We had lunch there and some ice cream, of course!

There is a place that is not too far away, that is called EnterTrainMent.  They have a number of large train layouts, a playground, a small train ride, and some mazes.  Rory likes it here and one of the rainy days when we were at the KOA we took him back.  It was the first time he got to ride the little train as we had always been there in the winter.

The National Museum of the Air Force is just off of Wright Patterson AFB and is free so we took Rory there one day.  We have been before but it is interesting and they change displays.  This time they had a display about the moon landing and the anniversary of D-Day.

One thing we did that we didn't take Rory to was a local balloon festival.  The kids were going to come but decided it was way too hot.  I don't blame them. it was really hot.  We only went for the night balloon glow.

This last week we went to a campout with our camping group, the first one we have been able to get to.  Everything in the rig worked fine when we left but while we were there my microwave/convection oven quit working.  Seeing as it is 15 years old I guess that is pretty good.  We have purchased another one from Lowes and it will be installed before our next campout.  We took Rory and Lola with us to the campout.  We left on Wednesday and came home on Sunday.  I love the little ones but I was exhausted when we got home.  Rory starts school in two weeks so this was our last campout.  He had a great time and spent time in the pool everyday.  He even got to roast his marshmallows!

While we were there we went tot he Lexington Horse Park.  Our campground was in Geargetown, KY, and not far from the Horse Park so we thought it would be fun for Rory.  He did have a good time and even got to ride a pony.  His parents enjoyed the time to themselves also.

We also spent time at some of the local parks and had picnics for lunch.  There are a number of splash parks in the area we have taken him to.  We did try to go out on the boat one time but the battery was dead so we had to cancel that.  We will get that done a couple more times before fall hits.  He is fun to spend time with.  We see the kids often, too.  We go out to dinner and go to festivals together.  They have also been to the house for BBQ's.

Bill and I have been in good health, you have to be to keep up with the kid!  Everything is good at the house, too.  We have had a few days of hot and steamy but overall it has been nice.  In the end of Aug/early Sept we are headed to North Carolina to see the girls for a few days.

So as you can see, we have been busy.  I hope you had a great summer.
