We got up early and went out to Scramblers for breakfast. Still our favorite breakfast place. Next we took the Suzuki through the car wash. I didn’t sleep well last night so I went back to bed for about 1 1/2 hours. When I got up we loaded the car up with stuff for the Salvation Army and dropped that off. Next was a trip to the bank. All of this before noon! Busy people. The rest of the day was just resting after cleaning the rig yesterday.
I made halibut for dinner. We went to Costco the other day and I got the halibut there. It was good. I made rice with it.
Around 4:00 we had a severe thunderstorm warning come through. The wind was blowing pretty good but the rain didn’t last long. It was pretty heavy while it was here. We are supposed to get another one tomorrow afternoon. Summer storms. This is from the tropical storm down south. At least it cooled us off.
We watched a couple of episodes of Jag we have recorded. We are almost finished with them. Tomorrow will be the last two. Neither of us can remember how the show ends.
I put in a second call to our lawn mowing service. They haven’t cashed the check for last month yet. This months bill doesn’t show any late fees so I have to assume they got it. People not cashing checks drives Bill nuts when he tries to balance the checkbook.
Aimee asked if we could babysit Rory on Friday night so that is something to look forward to.
We didn’t walk in the morning but we did get in an evening walk.
Wednesday, June 10
After breakfast we headed out for our morning walk. I was surprised that I was stiff and sore. We didn’t do the whole mile as I didn’t feel up to it. We will see how I do tonight.
We went over to Walmart to pick up some things. The store was half empty and things we expected to see there were not there. Then we stopped and got the Chevy washed. We have decided we don’t like the local car wash and will continue to drive to the one in Centerville where we got the Ford washed. We like the way that one cleans much better.
After lunch and a rest we went to the local Ace Hardware store. I was looking for something specific but they didn’t have it. I did get a couple of other things I was looking for.
For dinner I made hamburgers. I had made potato salad earlier in the day so we had that along with some corn on the cob and fresh tomatoes. We finished off a bottle of wine we opened the other day.
We did have another summer thunderstorm come through this afternoon. It poured for a bit then the rain let up. This did cool the temps down for our evening walk.
Thursday, June 11
We took our morning walk. The mornings are getting to be hard for me. I am stiff and sore so that mile seems a lot longer. I got my new medicine today but I have to wait until I have skipped one dose of my shots. That means I can’t start it until the 22nd. I hope it works quickly.
We went to the grocery store this morning to pick up some stuff. We got some strawberries but the store was out of shortcake. We even stopped at another branch and still couldn’t get them. After dinner we stopped at the local Walmart and found some. Yeah!
The boat repair place called and said the boat was ready. We went after lunch. When talking to the guys in the service department one of them offered to buy it from us. We said we would keep them in mind if we decide to sell. One of the other service guys came over and said if we ever wanted to sell to let them know. It is a popular size and style and they could find a buyer easily. We will see what happens later in the summer. We got the rig home and Bill did a little cleaning and loaded the life jackets and things into it. We will put it in storage tomorrow morning.
We went out to dinner tonight. The first place we went to wasn’t open to inside service yet. I was surprised as most restaurants around here are open. They sent me a coupon for my birthday but I guess I will have to do takeout if I want to use it. We walked to the restaurant next door and had dinner there. Your loss Bravo.
Today was vacuum and mop the floors day. Not my favorite thing to do.
Friday, June 12.
So Rory came over after lunch. I think it took all of 5 minutes to play Jenga, have him draw some pictures, play with the hot wheels, do some battles with the spinning top things and have a snack. He sure can wear grandma out. Lola came with him and she joined in the fun. I showed him the 50 state quarters we found and a monocular. He played with both. After dinner, we had sloppy joes and tater tots, he had Mac and cheese and tater tots, we went in the backyard and he played on the slip n slide for a bit. Busy, busy day. He stayed up until about 9:30 before going to bed. That finally gave us a rest. Lola got in three walks. She takes shorter ones these days. She is 10 1/2 years old and is turning white on the muzzle. I got in one walk.
My wildflowers are finally blooming as well as a number of other flowers we have.
It is looking good.
Saturday, June 13
We had waffles (Eggos) for breakfast. The kid is picky so we have what he will eat. Then we played video games for a bit before making chocolate chip cookies. He helped by measuring things and breaking the eggs. He did a good job so he got to eat a couple of the finished ones. There is nothing like a warm cookie.
Nick came and picked Rory up to take him to the local bike park. We kept Lola until they came back and they picked her up along with Rorys stuff.
We rested the remainder of the day. Dinner was pot pies as I was exhausted.
