Saturday- Saturday , Sept 26-Oct 3

Saturday.  Today we did a bit of shopping. I am looking for a tablecloth that will work for the fall and Thanksgiving, since I will be hosting this year. We had a couple of stores to visit. First we went to a place called the Christmas Tree Shop.  It carries a lot of things, not just Christmas decorations.  Nothing there.  Next we headed across the street to Target, nope nothing.  Last we tried Michael’s, again nothing.   Decided to look online for something. After that we did a bit of grocery shopping. The weather was overcast all day. I thought we might get a little rain but we didn’t. We are going on 14 days with no rain, which is highly unusual.  It was suppose to be 81 degrees today but I don’t think it reached that.

Sunday.  I got up and got dressed. While Bill started the laundry I went out and watered a couple of areas of the lawn. The grass seems to be growing well in most places. They should mow tomorrow. I am considering changing lawn services next year. These guys don’t really take care when they mow. I am planning to make sloppy joes for dinner. I bought the fixings yesterday. I am trying the buns they make in the bakery instead of the mass produced ones. I’ll see what I think of them.

Monday.  It was cooler this morning so the shorts are packed away and the pants are out. Time to wear long sleeves too.  We didn’t have any plans. We did try to go on our morning walk but it started raining while we were out. We shortened the walk and went home. It rained lightly all day so we didn’t get our evening walk in either. I made steak and baked potatoes for dinner. I did mop the kitchen floor today but that was about all. The temperatures are suppose to drop down to the high 40’s. Fall is here.  I made out menus for the next couple of weeks.  Let’s see if I keep to them or not

Tuesday.  We found some mushrooms growing in our yard. Guess we used too much water. I looked into natural ways to get rid of them. We are trying a vinegar spray. We won’t be watering as much since it has cooled off and we are getting rain. Next year I am looking at getting a new yard service. I want more than just someone to mow, I want a gardener, someone who will tell me when we need to do certain things. For dinner we had leftover sloppy joes with an orange cool whip salad. I also had an appointment with my rheumatologist.  Since I was pretty sure I would have to have blood work done so I didn’t have breakfast. After the appointment we went to the Original Pancake House for brunch.

Wednesday.  I decided to go to the store and get a few things. I put beef stew in the crockpot before we left so I wanted to get garlic bread to go with it. I volunteered to bring the main dish to the October camp out.  I planned on getting spiral sliced ham but couldn’t find one. I did get two hams and sliced them at home. I then vacuum sealed the meat and froze it. At the camp out I will heat it up in the crockpot with a glaze. My hands were sore after slicing the hams so I had to rest before sealing them. I received the tablecloth and napkins I ordered. They are for the fall season. I am hosting thanksgiving so I wanted something nice for that.

Thursday.  We started the day slow and then got going. We had a couple of things to do. Since fall is here we rotated our warmer clothes into our closet and our cooler clothes into the spare closet. We also went through and took out things we don’t wear.  We took those things to the Salvation Army. Next we stopped by the Christmas Tree Store and got some flannel sheets for the rig and a couple of other things.  Then we went to Hobby Lobby to get a couple more of the decorations I have out in the front. Last, but not least, we went to Menard’s to use our rebate and get some water softener salt. Then we went home. We are going out to dinner tonight but I have to think of some place. We were going to go to a new local place but they only have wings and sandwiches. We decided to go to a new Mexican restaurant in Miamsburg.  It is in the downtown area. It is probably the most like California Mexican food that we have found. It isn’t a fancy restaurant, there are only about 5 tables.  It is run by a family that moved here from Arizona. They don’t serve alcohol and soda comes in a bottle but the food is good. We will go back.

Friday.  Today I stayed with Rory in the afternoon. I helped him with his word homework. Last night we stopped by Costco on our way home and I found some Clorox wipes in a 5 pack that I picked up for Aimee. Good thing as Rory’s teacher is asking for wipes for the classroom when they go back to the classroom in a couple of weeks. The wipes are still hard to find around here but every so often I run across them. Nick came home before I left so I spent some time with all of them before going home. Poor Bill, all alone. We had a quick dinner than ran to the grocery for a couple of things. Then back home for the rest of the night.

Saturday.  Quiet day today. We did a little gardening, but not much else. I did fix a new recipe for dinner, Mongolian Chicken.  It turned out pretty good. I will keep it in the rotation. I called my brother to see how my mom is doing. He told me they sold the house and they got a good price for it. At least that is taken care of. They couldn’t hold an estate sale due to COVID restrictions there so a bunch of stuff went in the trash, including furniture. Goodwill is not accepting donations during this time either. Bummer, there was a bunch of nice stuff.
