Wednesday-Wednesday, Nov 25-Dec 2

Wednesday.  Busy, busy day. I started out making pumpkin pie. It turned out really nice looking. I also took this time to get my ingredients together to make my chocolate mousse pie. This is a multi step recipe.  Between steps I boiled sweet potatoes to get that dish ready for the fridge. With the items I made yesterday I now have the stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and the eggs boiled for deviled eggs.  The turkey is thawed and ready for roasting. I have a cheese spread, I cheated and bought this, ready for an appetizer.  Tomorrow I am making meatballs and a queso dip. We vacuumed and mopped the floors in preparation.  We got the paper today for the Black Friday ads. I don’t really need anything but I like to review the ads.  Tonight we will run the dishwasher so all the dishes are ready. I like to cook and enjoy sharing meals with the family but my arthritis makes it difficult. Next year I will probably get most of the meal from a local store.

Thursday.  HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!  I put the turkey in and got some appetizers ready before the kids arrived. Most of the side dishes only needed to be warmed up. I think dinner was a success.  We were all stuffed when it was over. Rory and Lola played around the house with a new ball we got Lola and the little drone toy we have for Rory. We also watched a movie and talked a lot. All in all a good day. Even though I tried to keep the amount of food I cooked down, we still have a lot of leftovers. I made a turkey breast instead of a full turkey. We still had plenty of leftovers. The kids took some home too.  We had a lot of pans and dishes to wash after the kids left so once those were done we settled down for a little tv.

Friday.  No Black Friday shopping for us. I am all done anyway.  I even have everything wrapped. It was warm today, if you consider 50 degrees warm. There is talk of snow on Monday and Tuesday though. We had the snow blower serviced so we went to pick it up today. They would have delivered it but Bill wanted to have it in case the snow really comes down.  We also made a quick stop at Walmart to grab a couple of things, it was on the way. I was surprised, the parking lot was full but the store was not. We got in and out quickly. Today is a relaxing day. After all the cooking I did I deserve it. We had some of the many leftovers for dinner. I took down the fall decorations.  I will start working on the Christmas ones this weekend.

Saturday.  We spent some time putting up outside decorations. We need to get another extension cord, a short one. I will probably make small changes to the decorations over the next few days. We have a wreath we have to figure out what to do with. It won’t hang on our new front door. The 3m hook we tried won’t stay up as the wreath is really heavy and the wreath hanger we have doesn’t work on these doors. They fit the frame too tight.

I really like the hippos.  They remind me of the song I want a hippopotamus for Christmas.  On Thanksgiving we found out Bill and Nick didn’t know that song so we found it on the internet and played it for them

Sunday. Today was an easy day. We had laundry to do and we put up a couple more lights. I need to get started on the inside of the house, including the tree.  I decided not to cook so we had pizza for dinner. We are expecting our first snow storm of the winter on Monday-Tuesday.  Our area shouldn’t get too much but north of us might.

Monday.  I was suppose to go to the kids house for a couple of hours while Aimee went to get her hair cut but today was our first snow so she cancelled. It started around 11:00 am and is supposed to go through tomorrow.  I put the tree up and got it decorated. I also put up a few decorations around the house. I need to go upstairs and get some more down. I also stared writing Christmas cards. I am going to do a few each day. For dinner I put split pea soup in the crockpot and it turned out really good.

Tuesday.  The snow continued into the night.  When we woke up it looked like a couple of inches had fallen.  It is so pretty before it gets dirty.  We don’t have any plans to go anywhere today.  We did take a walk this morning but walked in the street instead of the sidewalk as it was safer.

The next ten days are going to be cold but no further rain is being forecast.  I am making spaghetti for dinner.  It is a nice warm meal.  I got the Christmas cards done and in the mail this morning so look for yours.  We discovered we didn’t have a snow scrapper in the Suzuki so it is on my shopping list.  They should be available just about everywhere.

Wednesday.  We got up and went out to breakfast at the Original Pancake House.  It is usually too much food but I did a half order of French toast.  Bill’s pancake and eggs plate was too much.  And he even cut the normal 3 pancakes to 2.  Guess next time it will be one pancake.  After that we went to the Christmas Tree store.  I wanted a new table runner for the holidays.  I found one I like.  Next we took Aimee’s coffee mug back to her.  She left it on thanksgiving.  The snow is melting as the sun is out  it got to 42 degrees today.  The only snow that is left is the stuff in the shade.  We have decided to rejoin the YMCA so we have a place to go walking when we can’t walk outside.  We won’t be using the equips or the pool yet.  Hopefully that will happen soon.  Dinner is in the oven as I type this.  I am fixing salmon and twice baked potatoes.  Then it is quiet for the rest of the day
