Camping

 We went with our group to Grand Lakes state park in St Mary’s, Ohio for our July camp out.  It was a really nice state park.  They even had a pool with a really big slide and a splash pad.  The lake is really big but not too deep.  There were a lot of party barges on it and some smaller boats.  A nearby city, Celina, was having a festival that weekend.  One thing they had was a splash in with a bunch of car boats.  I have seen one or two of these before but there were hundreds here.  I got a couple of pictures of a few. 

Not sure I would like going out on one, they don’t look too sturdy.  

We also visited the Neil Armstrong Space Museum in nearby Wapakeneta. It was a well done museum.  We spent about an hour and a half while there. 

We did find a couple of DQ shops so we had to have some ice cream, of course.  We also visited a local farmers market.  I got some local wine and veggies while there.  

On Saturday, I was in charge of the potluck dinner.  We had a taco night and I think it went over very well.  I got people to volunteer to bring fixings for the tacos.  I made eight pounds of meat and that was just about the right amount.  There was only a little left.  There were also some side dishes like Spanish rice, Mexican corn, refried beans, watermelon, and a lot of desserts.  One person even made tres leches cake and it was good.  Now I don’t have to volunteer for main dish potluck for another year or so.  

The weather was hot and muggy but ok in the shade.  Friday we had about 30 minutes of rain but Saturday night it poured and there was a lot of thunder and lightning.  When we got home the kids said they only had a little rain.  We were about 90 miles apart.  

We took the kids out to dinner on Sunday.  It was good to see them. We generally get together every other week or so.  The condo has sold and we are just waiting for it to close.  We took Rory to see the Space Jam movie.  It was ok, nothing great.  There are a couple of movies coming in October he wants to see.
