We have done a bit of traveling lately and had some doctor appointments. We drove to North Carolina to visit the girls and their families. It is about 650 miles so we don’t drive it all in one day. We stopped the first night in Beckley, WV. I don’t think we will stay in the same hotel next time, I didn’t particularly like it. We spent some time just visiting and they came to our hotel and swam in the pool for a bit. We took everyone out for dinner. We went to a new place called Jordan’s. The food was very good, they even had good hush puppies.
After our visit we headed home, with an overnight stop in Mount Airy, NC. We stayed in a nice hotel here that we will come back to. We had a nice dinner here too. Mount Airy is Andy Griffin’s home town so they do that up pretty well.
We had our semi annual dentist appointments when we got back as well as some routine lab work. Yes, we are both healthy.
This last weekend we drove 250 miles to see a Trace Adkins concert in Shipshewana. We took back roads to enjoy the ride and it turns out one of the roads I planned on was US127, which was having their annual yard sale. It starts in Michigan and ends in Alabama. This caused a bit of a traffic backup and slowed us down but we got through it. That meant we would not be coming home the same way. Along with the concert tickets we had tickets to the Amish buffet. We decided to go into town early and have a late lunch/ early dinner instead of eating the buffet just before the show. That worked out for us. After we ate we checked into the hotel and then went to soak in the hot tub. That was really nice. They also had a pool that Bill swan in for a bit. The concert was really good. We had 6th row seats on the end. Here are some pics.
He sang a few of the songs on his new album and a lot of his big hits. It was a really good concert. We certainly didn’t need hearing aids. When the show was over we walked back across the parking lot to the hotel. Before we left in the morning we had breakfast at the hotel (The Blue Gate). It was a good buffet, they even made omelets!
After starting the laundry we went over to visit the kids. Rory starts school in about a week and they want to start getting him on his school schedule before hand to get him adapted.
It has been. Ice here but the heat is on the way back. We have to water parts of the lawn everyday as we had most of the bushes pulled up around the house and sod put down. We have to keep that damp. They did build me a planter box so I can have a few flowers. Once I get those planted I will post pictures.
