Busy, busy, busy

So somehow I scheduled three weeks in a row with activities.  The week of June 27 we took Rory camping for 4 days.  We drove to Columbus, Indiana, to a place called Ceraland. It is a sports complex that also has a campground.  They have a really big pool, mini golf, playgrounds, basketball courts, baseball courts, etc.  They advertised go carts but it really is a race course that you bring your own carts so we didn’t get to do that.  Rory really liked the pool, we spent a lot of time there. I got a bit of a sunburn. It was hot when we were there.  They had a really big slide in the pool that he spent a lot of time on.  We did roast marshmallows a couple of times.  We picked up some ants from this campground and had to spray the compartments.

The week of July 6 we went camping with our FMCA camping group.  We went to Carrollton, KY, and camped at Two Rivers campground.  It is located where the Ohio and Kentucky rivers come together. It was pretty good but we did get a lot of rain.  The campground doesn’t have a building but they did have a really big covered area that we hung out in.  Bill and I went to a Mexican Restaurant in town one night for dinner.  It was surprisingly good.  We will have to go back when camping in the area.  Our potlucks were good.  They decided to try cast iron cooking and made beef stew and peach cobbler.  Because of the rain they did start the stew in crockpots.  Once again we had too much food.

We came home on Sunday and put the rig in storage.  We decided to bomb it to finish off any leftover ants.  We also put ant traps in the compartments.  Hopefully they are all gone.

On the 14th we headed to North Carolina to see the girls.  It is about 650 miles so we break it into a two day drive.  We stopped for the night in Mt Airy, NC.  We had dinner at a bbq place called 13 bones.  The food we pretty good.  I was disappointed in the hush puppies but my ribs were great.  Bill got a pork chop and shrimp he enjoyed.  He also had a baked sweet potato, which is his favorite type of potato.  I was averaging 40mpg for the trip, not bad, considering my car is so big.  We spent Friday night, Saturday and a Sunday visiting.  The only problem was that the mosquitoes there love me, even though I sprayed myself multiple times.  They don’t bite Bill but love me.  I don’t know how many more times we will make the trip as it is tiring.  Flying will cost more but will probably be a better idea.

Now we will stay home and rest for a bit.  Have a good day.
