Wasps

It has been a quiet month so far.  We started back to our exercise classes after not being there for a month.  The first week was really hard but the following ones got easier.  We had a couple of standard doctor and dentist appointments too.  Everything is fine.  Our biggest issue was wasps, yellow jackets to be exact, in the outside of the house.  I called an exterminator and was told they were behind our siding so we had to remove it so they could get rid of the nest.  We found a contractor to do that and discovered they weren’t there.  We found them in a false front along the roof line.  The exterminator did kill them and remove the nest but now I had to get new siding on the wall.  Of course they didn’t have the same color so now we have to paint the house.  The only good thing was that they were able to remove some water damaged wood in places.

I got a quote for painting and it was cheaper than we thought it would be so we are on the list to get that done.  Probably in a couple of weeks.  We are doing a beige on the siding and a dark brown on the trim.  So after we got the quote on the paint Bill decided to go ahead and get a quote for a new roof.  After talking to the roofing guy we decided to do that first.  Luckily we can get on their schedule faster than the painting guys.  We will be replacing the gutter and down spouts so the roofers will take those off, the painters will paint and the roofers will come back and put the new ones up.  What fun coordinating all this is.

We went camping with our group this last week.  We took the scenic route so it took about 2 1/2 hours to get there. The freeway, which would have been faster, has been undergoing repair for months now and the lanes on the northbound side are really narrow.  So we wanted to avoid that and we weren’t in a hurry.  It was a nice weekend except for Saturday when rain started.  I had a major run in with bugs on Wednesday night and got about 30 bites on my legs and arms.  We went out Thursday and found some 100% deet but the damage was already done.  I didn’t sleep well due to the itching.  We headed home on Sunday and we’re about to get home, unload the rig and get it to storage before 5e big rain storm hit.  We did get a little wet at the storage year duvet not too bad.

Rory has started school and is in the 4th grade. So far he likes it.

With the work being done on the house we won’t be doing much for the last two weeks of the month. I’ll post more if something happens.
