This August has been the third wettest on record. That has thrown a wrench in our plans to get the house done. So far we have gotten the roof replaced. The painters were able to pressure wash the house and do some small repairs that needed to be done. They did start painting but only got some of it done. Most of the trim has been painted but there are a number of spots that need touch up. They got the siding on the front of the house painted. Unfortunately, the rain came again and we are at a standstill until it stops. We hope they can be back to work on the 7th and finish on the 8th. Once the painting gets done the roofing company will be back to install the new gutters.
Because we had the roof replaced they had to take down our satellite dish. I called DirecTV to arrange to get it reinstalled. They told me they couldn’t get anyone out for 2 1/2 weeks! What! We have been customers for more than 20 years and that was the best they could do? Well I wasn’t happy do I cancelled my account and called Spectrum, the local cable company. They sent the equipment the next day and we installed it. I did have to have them send someone out to change the inputs from Direct to Spectrum. While the guy was here doing that would you believe that the cable went out for the entire neighborhood? It was out for most of the day and they had to string a new wire into the neighborhood. They swear it wasn’t our install that did it. Anyway, when it came back on everything worked. Now we have to get used to a new company. I will probably be making some changes over the next month.
Because of the rain we had a quiet Labor Day weekend. We had dinner at the kids house on Sunday. We had BBQ delivered and it was good.
My hearing aid charger has been acting up and I took it to the offfice to have it looked at. They had to send both the charger and my aids in for work. I was given a temporary set and should beget mine back by the 9th. I miss having my phone and hearing aids synced together. I got mine back on the 9th. They replaced the batteries and gave me a new charger.
So the painting has finally finished. They came on the 7th and finished everything. I really like it and a few of our neighbors have said they like it. Here is a picture of the house before and after.
We also got new gutters installed. Would you believe they are exactly the same color as the trim? Well, they are. They selected the perfect shade of brown for them. So now we won’t be doing anything else with the house. The only thing we really have to update is the guest bathroom and that can wait for awhile.
During all of this would you believe I got a new car? It is a 2022 Toyota Venza cross over hybrid. I traded in my Avalon. I really like it and it has all kinds of bells and whistles. Now I just have to figure them out.
I got it on August 26th and I still only have about 200 miles on it. We haven’t really gone anywhere because of all the work being done on the house,
