Ashley and Philip's Wedding Day

Saturday, October, 9

When we finally woke up today it was a little later than we planned. Guess we partied too much last night. Our job this morning was to pick up 150 pounds of ice for the drinks tonight. We also picked up a couple of things for the kids to have for breakfast. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant and there really isn’t anything within walking distance.

We arrived at the hotel around 9:45 AM and unloaded the ice. You could already smell the pig being cooked for dinner. I went into the reception room to help decorate. I tried to help by keeping things cleaned up and collected. Part of that was placing items in the area they were to be used and to collect the empty containers and store them. I was already tired from last night so after a couple of hours I had to sit for awhile to rest my legs. Kim and her mom were doing the bulk of the decorating and they did a fabulous job.

Working hard at decorating

Around 1:30 or so Bill came in and said we were taking the kids to get a bite to eat. We planned on driving to Morehead City but decided that was too far and stopped at a seafood restaurant, Frost Seafood in Salter Path. The food was really good. We will have to remember that place the next time we are here.

Back at the hotel everyone started getting dressed for the wedding. Soon everyone gathered at the ceremony site. Guests were seated and soon the wedding party appeared. Bill was honored to escort his daughter Stormy, the Mother of the Bride, down the aisle. All of the participants performed their duties and soon we were applauding the introduction of Mr. & Mrs. Philip Holder.

After the ceremony family stayed outside for pictures while the remaining guests moved into the reception hall to enjoy appetizers. The party lasted long into the night and was great. The DJ kept things moving along and make sure all the guests got a chance to dance by mixing up the song choice. The food was delicious, especially the pig Tony cooked. Nick is now addicted to Eastern North Carolina BBQ. They don’t use a heavy sauce on their pork, and it is only pork. The sauce is a vinegar based sauce with different spices. One day I will get his recipe. Maybe I should take some to a lab to have it analyzed.

Bill and all of his extended family

Bill and I finally left around 11:00 PM and crashed as soon as we got home. We just dropped everything in a living room and I will have to clean up later but not tonight. We were soon out like a light. The kids stayed up late at the hotel partying. I am glad they are enjoying themselves.

Here are all the pictures I took.
