Rehearsal day

Friday, October 8

Bright and early we got up, got dressed, stopped downstairs for a quick bite and drink, checked out of the hotel and headed to the airport.  We are only a couple of miles away so we didn't have to leave that early.  I found the parking lot without having to drive around and around the airport.  Yeah!  Because of the security of 9/11 we met the kids in baggage claim.  Here they are coming down the escalator.

They are tired as they didn't get much sleep on their overnight flight.  After waiting a few minutes for their luggage we were on the road.  Rant - the airlines charge way too much to check luggage!  Rant over.

Aimee hasn't been to North Carolina before and she enjoyed the scenery on the trip.  We did stop at Hardee's to get a bite to eat before we made it to Emerald Isle and the hotel.  Hardee's is the east coast brother of Carl's Junior.  Which came first?  I don't know but I know they merged a number of years ago.

We finally made it to the hotel and got the kids checked in.  They decided to take a nap for a couple of hours so that they would be awake for the rehearsal dinner and party later in the evening.  We visited with everyone.  They were starting to get things setup for the dinner.

The weather was great and promised to be beautiful for the wedding.  Soon everyone was gathering and assuming their positions for the rehearsal.  Nick, Aimee and I took pictures and performed the duties of the audience.  Tomorrow will be perfect.

Stormy & Bill - Mother of the Bride and her father
Flower girls

Ashley and Bryant - the Bride and her father

Ashley, Philip and Billy - Bride, Groom and Minister

After everyone perfected their roles we headed to the tent to enjoy a fabulous dinner.  The Holder family provided shrimp & grits, steamed zucchini with onions, pasta with pesto.  We all enjoyed it immensely.  Everyone mingled and got to know the various family members.  The older folks called it a night and left the younger ones to party on.  We headed back to the campground and to sleep in our own beds.  We didn't sleep that well the night before and were looking forward to getting back to our place.  I really don't like staying at hotels.  The noise from adjoining rooms kept me up all night.

Enjoy the pictures I took of the rehearsal.
