Up bright and early, even before the sun! We are making a pilgrimage back to Memphis. Last night they got the glass cut and wrapped up and we are taking it to be tempered. We are also taking along some other glass they have to get done. They normally send their glass out once a week and it returns the next week. We don't want to wait that long so we offered to drive it ourselves. We will be driving back on the same road we came in on. By the time we finish we will have driven it three times! It is about 117 miles from here to there.
The drive over to Memphis wasn't too bad. We only got stuck in traffic once because a big rig truck broke down in one of the two lanes on I55. There was also construction going on so the lanes were really narrow. It was raining most of the way, or at least drizzling. We found the glass shop without too much trouble. They had me drive the car into the building to off load the glass! After that we drove around the area a bit. We found an RV place and checked out some of their stock. I didn't find anything I particularly liked. Even the 45 footers all had something I didn't like. One of the main things was the price tags! Yikes! I am trying to talk Bill into buying an attachment to our TV antenna that will help with reception when we are not using satellite. Maybe if I whine a bit he will get it for me.
We drove around looking for a place to have lunch but all we kept finding were fast food joints or fried chicken places. We were looking for a place like Applebees, Chili's or that type. Someplace that had an assortment of food. After not finding anything that looked good we stumbled upon an IHOP. Desperate, I was really hungry by now, we drove in. Big mistake! This was the worst service and food I have ever had at an IHOP. It was after noon when we got there and we both ordered soup and a half sandwich. The waitress took the order and disappeared. After about 30 minutes she came back and said the food was coming, they don't make the soup until after 1:00 PM so they had to start it early! If she had told us that at first we would have changed our selections! Who ever heard of a place not making soup before lunch was over? We also noticed that other waitresses were getting food to their customers who came in after us. There was also a table across from us who were there before we were. They didn't get their food until after ours finally came! I should have got up and left. Her excuse was she couldn't bring it faster than the kitchen made it. Obviously the kitchen was ignoring her orders and she should have said something to them. I left a tiny tip and when asked if I enjoyed my lunch I told them absolutely not. Rant over.
The drive back was uneventful and we made it to the rig. The glass shop was closed when we got back, it was after 5:00 and we expected that. I didn't feel like cooking so we picked up some KFC for dinner. We spent a quiet evening as we can only pick up ABC and sometimes NBC on the antenna since we are between two buildings. See, that antenna thing would have helped. Anyway, the rain had stopped but it was cold, in the 50's. Tomorrow they will get our window fixed and we will be on our way, hopefully. Until then, take care.
