Monday & Tuesday, Nov 1 & 2
While on our drive toward Jasper, AL yesterday we passed Talladegha Race track. There was a race going on. Today on our drive towards West Memphis we either passed or were passed by a lot of RV's, trailers and fifth wheels. Even the campground we were in, Tom Sawyer's, was just about full on Monday night. Most of those rigs had flags or stickers for Nascar so we assume that was where they were coming from.
We stayed at Tom Sawyer's two years ago. It is right across the river from Memphis and is a nice place. A portion of the park juts out into the Mississippi River and you can watch barges going up and down. The really great thing is that they have FREE laundry! Now they only have 2 washers and 2 dryers but it is a great thing. I got my laundry caught up.
On Tuesday morning we woke up to the pitter-patter of rain on the roof. Bummer! Luckily it stopped long enough for Bill to un-hook everything and for us to get on the road. We left early, about 8:30 AM, and headed towards Searcy, Arkansas. We are going to the RV Fog Dr to have the drivers window repaired or replaced. It is about 100 miles away from where we were camped. This window has moisture built up in it. If they can clean it up then they will just repair it but if they can't they will have to replace it. The window has been fogged for about 5 years so I bet they can't clean it. The water has etched into the glass, I think. We got to the place and got parked. They have a full hookup site and some electric only. We got the full hookups. After talking with the guys we went to lunch and they started on the rig.
We are now back from lunch and our luck is normal - they can't repair it. We have to replace the glass. This means a trip to Memphis for us tomorrow morning. This place cuts the glass but it has to be tempered in Memphis. Normally this would require a week but to speed it up we will take the glass over ourselves and wait for it. Looks like that is our destination tomorrow. Tonight we will spend rucked between two buildings.
I took some pictures of the last couple of places we have been and where we are now. I hope you enjoy them.
