When we went to bed last night it was pretty nice but around 2:00 AM I woke up to heavy wind and rains. Oh joy. It rained most of the rest of the night and when we got up in the morning it was still raining. Not only was it raining, there were snow flurries! Luckily, they weren't sticking to the ground. We couldn't decide whether to stay for another day or leave. We had breakfast and got dressed. Around 8:45 AM it had pretty much stopped raining so Bill decided we would just go ahead and leave. We got unhooked and packed up in less than 30 minutes. The drive was uneventful but it was cold. My car temp said 37 degrees when I put the keys in it for the ride!
As we headed east and north we passed some mountains and there was fresh snow on them.
For half of the trip we were on US HWY 287. It was a slower drive than on the interstates but we saw a lot more. We saw our first wildlife today but I didn't get any pictures. We saw a bunch of Prong Horn Antelopes. There were also a lot of cattle but they don't count as wildlife.
We are camped for the night in Buffalo, WY at the Indian Campground. The daily rate is rather high here but I checked all the campgrounds in town and they are all about the same. I picked the Good Sam park so that I could at least get a 10% discount. I think the $36 I paid was too much. But other than that the park was nice.
Tomorrow we drive over to Rapid City, SD and Ellsworth Air Force Base. We plan on staying there for about 5 days. On Monday we will go get our licenses renewed.
So that is all for now. Take care.
