I thought today would be a good day to go wandering around cemeteries. I don't know why but I thought it would be easy to find the graves I was looking for. Turns out these cemeteries were huge! Our first cemetery was over 20 miles away. It is where I believe Bill's 3 times Great-grandfather and grandmother are buried. It is in the county next to York called Adams. I was lucky in being able to find the graves after only about 20 minutes of searching. The bad part was that it was over 100 degrees.
On our way back to York we decided to have linner at a local diner. When we drove by the parking lot was full so we took that as a good sign. The food was good and the prices were great. Bill had chicken croquettes and I have beef tips over noodle. Yummy.
Our next step was to locate Bill's Great-grandfather on his mother's side. I know he is in an unmarked grave but I do know where that unmarked grave is. Oops, this cemetery is really big. I had a map of the cemetery but forgot to bring it with me. We drove and walked around a bit but decided to come back tomorrow with the map and also because the office would be open then.
I did take pictures of all the headstones I did find even if they were Hinkle's that I didn't know. I will probably be able to add them in somewhere sooner or later. I did find 3 people (Hinkle's) buried next to Jacob Senior and Mary. I assume the one, John Hinkle, to be another son of Jacob's. I will have to research this.
We also went to a third cemetery called Strayers, Lenhart-Gerber section. It wook about 15 minutes to find the graves I was looking for. So today we found Bill's 3 and 3 times Great-grandfather's graves and some uncles or cousins.
