The following post will bring everything up-to-date as far as the weekend. I will be posting from there separately.
Tuesday, Oct 9 to Thursday Oct 11
We didn’t do much in the morning but planned on going to the
movies in the afternoon. It was
scheduled to start at about 2:30 PM so we got up to leave. I picked up my purse and my left arm went
numb. Numb as in I couldn’t move
it. I got a little light headed
too. I sat down and the feeling slowly
came back into my arm working its way from the shoulder to the fingers. My forefinger and thumb were the last to come
“back to life” in about 5 minutes or so.
After that I had some tingling up and down my arm. ( I had something
like this happen yesterday at the Alamo but I didn’t tell Bill and it only
lasted for a couple of minutes.) We
decided I should probably go to the clinic or something. Bill asked at the campground office and they
gave us directions to the clinic. At the
clinic they said I needed to go to ER, which was in a different place. Long story short, they wound up admitting me
for 2 days. They thing I had a TIA, or
mini stroke, but they can’t confirm anything.
It could also be a pinched nerve.
I was in the hospital for almost exactly 48 hours and let me
tell you it wasn’t fun. I had 2 MRI’s,
two CT Scans, 3-4 EKG’s, an Echo Cardiogram, and a lot of blood work.

We got up and got going pretty quickly this morning. The wind had stopped sometime during the
night so that was good. We have about
240 miles to travel today. We are headed
toward El Paso, TX and the Ft Bliss Famcamp.
They don’t take reservations so it is first come first serve. When we were about half way there I called
and they said they have about 10 spots open so we will head there. I had another park picked out just in case
they were full. This is a nice park, we
have stayed here a number of times. It
cost us $16 a night for full hookups.
Bill did have to put up the satellite dish as they don’t have
cable.
We went to the PX after we got setup. I wanted to buy a blood pressure machine and
try to get a haircut. I forgot it was
Saturday and they were really busy but they were able to squeeze me in when
someone didn’t show for an appointment.
Yeah! There was a BBQ contest
going on and the public was invited so that was why it was so busy.
We also decided to go to the movie that we missed the other
day, Taken 2. It was pretty good. The crowds had let up a bit so it wasn’t as
bad as this afternoon but there were still a lot of people there. Ft Bliss has a nice PX area and a lot of
stores.
Tomorrow we head out again.
We are in a hurry to make it back to Calif. To surprise Aimee at her shower.

It is nice to be in Central time as all the shows come on an
hour early. I get my TV fix in as well
as go to bed early.
We left Ft Bliss but stopped at the gas station just outside
the campground to fill up. Diesel was
only $3.899 a gallon. This will probably
be the cheapest we will see it the remainder of this trip. We had more than half a tank but still topped
it off.
Our destination today Willcox, AZ. That means we are finally out of Texas. We also passed through New Mexico and into
the eastern part of Arizona. Neither one
of us likes this constant travel but we have to be back in Calif by the middle
of this week. The campground we are at
is Ft Willcox RV Park. It is nothing
fancy, just a park out in the middle of nowhere, but the people are nice. They do a waffle breakfast but I am fixing
breakfast tomorrow to use up stuff in my fridge. I am trying to empty it out before we get
in. Nothing else to report.

We woke up early this morning and couldn’t go back to
sleep. Of course, it was a day we could
have slept in. I got up and made
scrambled eggs, bacon and cinnamon rolls.
Yummy. Probably the last big
breakfast I will get in awhile. I know
my Dr is going to yell at me when I see her.
We waited until about 10:00 AM to leave. Would you believe someone was checking in
when we were leaving? Talk about
early.
Our destination today is Desert Valley RV Park in Eloy,
AZ. We stayed here last year. They have really, really long pull through
sites. They are a GS park, not a PA but
you can’t be picky. They have a pool and
a spa, which we may take advantage of later.
We are heading into town for dinner.
It will be Bill’s last Cracker Barrel meal for at least 6 months. Got to get his fix.

About 200 miles to drive today to reach Quartzside. We did change our minds on the campground we
are going to stay at. We normally stay
at Kofa Mountain but the sites are really close together. Bill wanted me to pick another spot. We decided to stay at 88 shades, a GS park,
as they have cable and bigger spots. It
costs a little more than Kofa Mountain but it is a much nicer layout. We did drive over to the Pilot and put gas in
my car. The prices in Calif are way too
expensive so we filled up at Arizona prices.
I fixed steak for dinner.
I am still trying to empty my frig and use up veggies. We don’t know what they won’t let us bring
into Calif when we cross the border tomorrow.

Well, we made it to Hemet. CA today. We had about 180 miles to go so we took our
time in the morning. We did stop at the
Flying J in Ehrenberg to top off the diesel.
We paid $4.08 in AZ and it is about $4.59 in Calif so we saved a few
bucks. Hopefully the prices will be back
down by the time we need to fill up again.
We spent the afternoon emptying everything from the
rig. We are taking it in for work
tomorrow morning so we need to take out anything we will need for the next
week. Most of my food in the fridge
went into my folk’s RV fridge. All the
fresh or opened stuff came into the house.
There really wasn’t much. We were
surprised that they didn’t ask us any questions at the border. So they didn’t take anything.
Now I am exhausted getting the rig ready to go. Mom is making dinner so I can rest
tonight.
Thursday, Oct 18 – Friday, Oct 19
Not much going on. We
turned the rig in to the shop to get some work done on it. On Friday Bill went flying with Dad and I
went to the Library to do genealogy research.
We have been resting to catch up
on our rest from the week long trip to get here.
