We planned on leaving by 9:30 AM today but that didn't happen. After I started the rig to bring the air up to pressure the stop engine light came on. What! Turns out the coolant was low. We thought our mechanic checked that when we had it in for service. Guess not. That required a drive into town (14 miles) and a visit to the Napa store. They had a coolant for big rigs but after we bought it and got it back to the rig, we called Cummins to check. They said it was OK to use but that we should get the system flushed at our convenience. They told us there was a Cummins repair facility in Grand Junction where we were headed. I called and made an appointment for the morning. After that we took off.
The drive from Durango through Silverton and on to Grand Junction is one I never want to do again. It was curvy, straight up, straight down and sometimes all at the same time. Mark US 550 off of any driving list. Here is a picture of Silverton as we were coming down the mountain.
We also got some rain. We had about 180 miles to drive today and it took us over 4 1/2 hours! Oh, and there was road construction. It was a white knuckle drive.
We finally made it into Grand Junction where we will be at least until Friday. I will get pictures of the campground later this week. We have to be at Cummins tomorrow at 7:30AM so we will have an early night. Bye for now.

Coolant problems seem to run in the family, the BMW had problems a few months ago, the VW had problems about 2 weeks ago and now the RV!
