Forest City, Iowa

Tuesday, June 24, 2014

We got up without an alarm the morning. Even though we were not in a big hurry, we still were ready by around 9:00 AM. The drive was only about 125 miles and was very easy. We are now in Forest City, Iowa, and are parked at the Customer Service area of Winnebago. We have checked in and are waiting for tomorrow morning when our rig will go in for service. There are a couple of others here who got here today and there are some who have been here for awhile. We won't know until tomorrow how long we will be here but it will be at least one more night. We hope to get out by Friday. So we are just sitting here until we hear. It is going to be an exciting night. We have electricity but no water or sewer. There is a public park close by where we can dump and refill our water if we need to be here over the weekend. I certainly hope not.

There has been a lot of rain in the area and north of here in Minnesota. There were a lot of corn fields that had a lot of standing water in them, destroying the corn. Also, the rivers and creeks that we crossed were either overflowing their banks or were just at the top of them. There is more rain predicted later this week. I hope we are gone by then.

Here are a few pictures of the area we are in.

check this place out near Forest City. You are also near the memorial for Buddy Holly where his plane went down.
