Happy 4th of July

Friday, July 4, 2014

We didn't have any plans for most of the day but did plan on attending the fireworks show in Newton, IA.  We worked around the rig for a bit, since we actually had nice weather.  I put a pork roast in the crockpot and that was a really good dinner.  We watched some patriotic shows on TV and just relaxed today.

Around 7:00 PM we headed over to Newton and the park.  It was easy to find a close place to park the car and setup our chairs.  We wandered around checking out the activities.  There were a couple of bounce houses for the kids, a local duo singing, and various activities.  It was cute.  They had a frog race, you had to supply your own frog so we didn't do that.

Finally at about 9:20 PM the fireworks started.  It was a nice display put on by a small town.

We enjoyed the show. It was very easy to get out of the parking lot and we were soon on our way back to the campground. We did see one deer on the side of the road. I am glad it didn't run across!
