Tastykake Land

Thursday, July 10, 2014

We woke up early when the big doors behind us rolled up, about 6:30 AM.  We got up, showered quickly, and had breakfast.  We didn't expect the part to get here until about 10:00 so we just hung around the rig.  When we checked in with the office the part wasn't here so we just hung around some more.  Around 2:30 we found out that the part didn't get completely shipped.  It got left at one of the stops.  The owner here was on the phone with them laying down the law.  We are not going to pay the overnight delivery fee, in fact, he said he wasn't paying any delivery fee.  It should be here early tomorrow.  I had called and talked to the billeting people at Fort Chaffee (in Fort Smith) and made reservations for today until Monday.  I called them back and told them we weren't going to make it today so they changed the reservation to Friday until Monday.  Luckily they were very understanding.  Of course this means we will be staying here another night.
Last night the temps cooled down nicely.  We were able to turn off the house fan and the fantastic fan but left the small table fan on.  I did turn that off around 2:00 AM.   It was also cool in the morning and we didn't turn any fans on until after 2:00 PM  We did have some rain during the morning but it stayed pretty nice all day.  Around 2:00 we drove down the road and had frozen custard at Andy's.  We had been to one of these stores before in Branson and they have good stuff.

We ate dinner in, pot pies and a salad.  I think we are going to have breakfast out tomorrow morning.

We drove around a bit after the custard and there are still places where you can tell a tornado went through.  There are also areas that have been rebuilt and the whole area looks new.  The town has recovered nicely.  During this drive we found a Tastykake outlet center and bought a couple of things.  These are the first Tastykakes we have had this trip.

So that is all for now.  Hopefully we will be back on the road tomorrow.
