Heading Back

Wednesday - Friday, Sept 24-26, 2014

Wednesday we stayed around the rig during the day and in the afternoon headed to Frackville to visit with Bill's cousins.  We really like to visit with Carol & Nick and Wayne.  Carol always cooks for us.  We tried to take them out to eat but she insisted on cooking.  We had a very good meal of Italian casserole.  We also talked at lot in the 4-5 hours we were there.

Late Wednesday night it started to rain and it rained off and on all day.  It stopped for a couple of hours in the afternoon and we were able to get the tire covers off and packed away.  We also spent part of the day cleaning up and packing up.  We are leaving here on Friday morning.  We decided to have dinner at a restaurant that we have driven by every time we head away from the campground.  It is called the Red Lion Inn.  The parking lot is always crowded and the reviews on Yelp are good.  I was a bit disappointed in the food.  It was fine but not what I expected.  I had grilled haddock and it was a bit greasy.  Bill's turkey dinner looked good.

Friday morning we were up bright and early and on the road at 9:00 AM.  We are now heading West on our return trip.  We haven't seen that many stink bugs the last couple of days but when we got to the next campground there were a lot here.  I hope they don't make it inside,

On our way we were going to drive right past the Flight 93 Memorial so we decided to stop.  We had a quick lunch and then walked up the to Memorial.  This boulder is the impact point of the flight.

They are still working on the Memorial.  They are building a Visitor's Center and plan on an area with 40 windchimes to represent the voices of the 40 who died on the flight.  Currently they have the wall of names.

We are spending the night at the Fox Den Acres Campground in New Stanton, PA.  It is south and a bit east of Pittsburgh.  Tomorrow we cross into Ohio.  We have been to this campground before.  I didn't remember it until we drove down towards it.  As we got closer it starting looking familiar.  Our neighbors are ready for Halloween.  I bought some candy but it is gone now.

Our drive was about 215 miles today.  Tomorrow we will head to Zanesville, OH.  It is only about 140 miles so it won't be as long as today was.  Also it will be on the Interstate, not a US Highway.
