Sunday - Tuesday, Sept 21-23, 2014
These days were spent catching up with family. On Sunday Bill's sister, Sue, came out with two of his nieces, Vanessa and Marti. They wanted to see the RV so they came to us. We were lucky and the park didn't make us pay for them. This park charges a $4 visitor fee which is kind of silly this time of year as it is not like they can enjoy the things here. The pool is closed, the restaurant is closed, no special activities are going on so why charge? All they did was stay with us. Rant over. We spent a few hours visiting and then we took some of them out to dinner. We drove into town to a new Italian restaurant that Sue said was good. I enjoyed my Penne Vodka.
Monday we visited the dead relatives. I was unable to get contact info for some of the historical societies but I did locate one of the cemeteries. It was about an hours drive but we found it and I was able to locate some graves I was looking for. I had hoped to find some contact info at the cemetery but there wasn't anything. One of the sites was for Bill's 3 times great grandfather/mother. I was surprised to see there were flowers on this grave! Must mean people from that branch of the family still live there. I have to assume some of the graves I was looking for were unmarked or the unreadable headstones were theirs. Before we took off to the cemetery we made a small detour and got Bill's favorite Coney Island hamburgers. They are hamburgers that are cooked, then allowed to marinate in onion juice and onions, then topped with a Coney Island sauce. We get them every time we are back here. On the way home we took a detour to get his favorite ice cream sundae. A CMP is ice cream topped with chocolate, marshmallow cream and chopped up peanuts. So we have gotten all his favorites except his candies. Unfortunately, the candy store has closed. We skipped dinner as we just weren't hungry in the evening.
Tuesday morning we got up early to head into St Clair to visit Bill's brother, Skip. We met at a Dunkin' Donuts and sat there for 3 hours talking! My rear was sore after that. There is talk that they may come out Thursday morning to visit some more. After our visit I walked to the Verizon store to see about upgrading my Iphone. They were not honoring the special I had seen on TV as they were not a corporate store but individually owned. I need to get to a bigger town to make the change. We also made stops at Home Depot and Walmart before heading home.
The stink bugs are out again. We hadn't seen any for a couple of days when we first got here but they are back. Luckily, there have not been as many as the last time. We have killed a few in the rig but hopefully we don't have any stowaways.
So that is all for now.
