Back at Winnebago

Sunday - Monday, Oct 14, 2014

We only had a 25 mile drive to get to Winnebago.  Our spot in the upper lot was available so we pulled in there.  We spent the rest of the day watching others come in for Monday morning appointment.  7:00 AM comes awfully early.

There was 2 train engines sitting on the tracks next to the area and they were left running all day and night.  I guess they don't shut these things down when they are not in use.

Monday morning came too early.  In fact, we woke up at 4:30 instead of 5:30.  Bummer.  We were ready way before 7:00.  It was dark out.  In fact, it doesn't get light until around 8:00 around here.  They got our rig in and started work.  They contacted the extended warranty company and we were surprised that they are covering as much of the work as they are.  We still have to pay a part of it by no where near as much as the total.

We spent the day in the customer service area talking to all the other owners who are here.  It is fun to compare notes on what is wrong.  The super slide on the newer rigs seems to be a real problem.  Guess we won't be getting one of those.

Monday night we went out to the Branding Iron in Thompson, IA, about 15 miles away.  I swear we went at 5:00 PM the last time we were here but I guess their winter hours are different.  They didn't open until 5:30 so we just sat in the car in the rain.  Dinner was great.  For $19 you get a salad bar, soup, bread, a potato and the prime rib.  The prime rib is about 2 inches thick!  Here are my plates.

Salad Bar and Soup

There's the meat!
We went to bed by 10:00 PM to prepare to get up for the 7:00 AM gathering.

During the day we went to the post office to pick up our mail.  We forgot it was Columbus Day and the post office is closed!  That is what happens when you are retired.  Guess we will get it tomorrow.

Bye for now.
