Fall is here

Thursday - Sunday, October 2-5, 2014

It rained a lot on Thursday.  We really didn't do much.  It has also gotten cold.

Friday we decided to go visit the National Museum of the Air Force, which is next to Area B of the base.  We have been here before so I didn't take a bunch of pictures.  The entire museum is huge as it is inside 4 different hangers.  It is arranged in order of history, the beginning of the AF to today and space exploration.  We didn't cover all of it.  We made the mistake of not eating lunch before we came and we got hungry so we left around 2:00.  We decided to head to the mall area and find a restaurant.  We decided to go to Olive Garden.  Most of the restaurants around there were chains.  Nothing unique.  On our way back onto the base we stopped and I picked up Rick and Janie's wedding present.

Saturday was a slow cold day.  We did do laundry in the laundry room of the famcamp.  The price here is pretty good.  It was $1 to wash and $.50 to dry.  We also did a little cleaning in the rig as we are leaving on Monday morning.  We have had to drag out the bigger quilts as it is getting into the 40's at night.  The wind makes it a biting cold.  I hope it warms up a big and doesn't get too much colder before we leave Winnebago.

Sunday we decided to go the movies.  They were having a free showing of The Judge.  There was a special surprise and one of the stars of the movie made an appearance.  It was Robert Downey Jr.  I was surprised.  He talked for about 5 minutes or so before he left.  We were seated in the next to the last row of the theater and my pictures didn't turn out too good but here they are.  I took them with my phone.  We also got a couple of t shirts and a movie poster.

We have seen other advanced showings  on bases but this is the first time one of the stars has been at one.

So we now have a week to make it to Forest City, IA and Winnebago.  I hope the weather stays good.  We are looking forward to getting back to CA.
