Manatee Cove RV, Patrick AFB
Cocoa Beach, FL

Today was our longest day in a long time.  We have about 218 miles to go.  The first 15 or so were on US 1 through parts of Miami.  Once again there were a bunch of stupid drivers.  It took us about 45 minutes to go that 15 miles.  There were a lot of lights and we hit most of them red.  Once we got on I 95 everything was good.  Just a long drive.

We are headed to Patrick Air Force Base in Cocoa Beach, FL.  It is very close to the Kennedy Space Center and Cape Canaveral.  I was looking at their website to see how much it cost to visit when I noticed that there is a planned rocket launch on Friday!  Cool!  We are going to find a place to watch it.  I understand you can see it from the campground on base but there are closer places too.  I will have to go to ITT to see about discount tickets for Kennedy.

We got into the campground a little after 2:00 and the office was closed.  The summer is their light time so the office is only open from 10:00 - 2:00.  The camp host saw us drive in and met us at the entrance to the park.  This park is first come. first serve.  They have full hookup sites, electric and water sites that are only 30 amp, and electric only that have 50 amp.  We were able to get in one of the full hookup sites.  They informed us that they are going to start work on the other sites to get them all up to 50 amp and full hookups.  That will be good.

We originally thought we would go out to dinner but it started to rain about that time and we decided to stay in.  I heated up the last of the leftover pork roast, from the freezer, and made mashed potatoes.  I had a salad while Bill had pickled beets.  A nice simple dinner.

Since it was still raining we didn't do much else.  I did get some pictures taken before the rain started.  I hope you enjoy them.
