Walt Disney World
Orlando, FL
Oh boy! Today we head over to the Magic Kingdom to check it out. It is certainly big and it was crowded.
To begin our adventure we had to take the bus to the Settlement and the dock. Here we boarded the ferry. You have to watch which bus and ferry you get on so that you go to the right place.
We passed a couple of the hotels in the area and soon arrived at the Magic Kingdom. We went through security and then to Guest Relations to exchange our ticket vouchers and get them attached to our magic bands. Magic Bands? They are bracelets you were that you can just to charge things to your room account. Or in our case, our RV site. We scanned them and were inside the Kingdom. So far everything looks the same.
We had some time to kill before our first Fast Pass so we strolled down Main Street over to Tomorrowland. The sun is shining today and it is very warm. OK, it is hot. I think the temp got to over 90 degrees and the humidity was high.
Once in Tomorrowland we walked around a bit. We rode the Peoplemover to get an overview of the area. After that we went to the Carousel of Progress. It is very similar to the one they used to have at Disneyland years ago. Just last scene was been updated to include modern things.
Before we went in there we saw Buzz Lightyear. You could stand in line and get his autograph and a picture taken. We didn't.
Next we walked through a couple of shops and then got a couple of ice cream cones. This is the first time I get to buy things with my Magic Band. Everything worked as promised and we were soon munching on cool ice cream cones. The $7 I paid for two was a bit high though.
Soon it was time for our first Fast Pass attraction. We saw the Monsters Laff Factory Show. It was cool to be able to walk pass everyone and go straight in. The show was cute and I love how they interact with the audience like they are real.
Next we decided to walk through the various lands and see how things are different. Like I said, there was Main Street, Tomorrowland, Fantasyland, Libery Square, Frontierland, and Adventureland. We were able to get on a few of the lesser rides or shows but the popular ones you really needed the Fast Pass or you have waits of over 30 minutes. We did see the Country Bear Jamboree. Another show that is no longer at Disneyland. It was just like I remembered.
We decided to take the train around the park and get off back at Main Street. It was very hot and we decided to come back later tonight. Back at the rig we rested and cooled off. My air conditioner is really getting a workout here!
Later this evening we headed back to the park to see the Main Street Electrical Parade. We had Fast Pass reservations so we got to sit in a special spot. It was shorter than I remembered.
After the parade we got back on the ferry to return to Fort Wilderness. You can see the fireworks from the beach at the dock so we got back in time for that. Soon we were heading back to our rig and sleep. It was a long exciting day. We saw a lot of cranky kids and exhausted adults. We are glad we don't have to ride all those rides anymore.
So that was today. Tomorrow - Epcot. Have fun and enjoy the pictuers.
