WDW day 5

WDW, Orlando, FL

Today is our last day here at Walt Disney World and we are going to visit the Animal Kingdom.  The rain stopped during the night but it is still cloudy and overcast.  We had a big breakfast.  I made biscuits and gravy.  That should hold us until later in the afternoon for our next meal.

We had to return our golf cart this morning so we puttered over to the return place.  We had a little parade following us because our cart is slow.  We told them at the cart return the issues we were having.

Soon we were walking over to the bus station to catch the bus to the Animal Kingdom.  We didn't have a long wait and luckily the bus wasn't too crowded.  We arrived, got through security and then through the entrance.  There are a lot of different animals in enclosures around the park.  Not too far into the park you find the Tree of Life.  It isn't exactly like what I thought it was going to be,  Also, there is some construction going on so you can't get too close.

The first "land" we entered was DinoLand USA.  It is all about dinosaurs.  There are dino based rides and food stands.

In this section we saw the Finding Nemo-The Musical.  It was very well done and we were both impressed with it.

After this was over we decided to have lunch.  The first place we picked was a BBQ place but it wasn't a restaurant, it was just a kiosk.  There was really no place to sit down and eat.  Next we picked a pizza place.  We did eat here but it took standing in line for over 20 minutes to get our food.  It was also expensive.  For what we paid for a meatball sandwich, a mini pepperoni pizza, a bottle of water and a coke would have bought a good steak dinner for the two of us in town.  The food was just OK.  The sandwich and pizza were both just lukewarm.

After lunch we checked our Fast Passes and our next thing to do was the Kilamajaro Safari.  You take a ride on a tour bus (sort of a jeep thing) through various animal habitats.  This was cool.  It would have been better if the driver didn't go so fast and we got to stop longer.

There are some animals we either didn't see or the pictures didn't come out.  After we got off the ride we walked through the Forest Exploration Trail and saw some other smaller animals.  Birds, monkeys, fish, and gorillas.

By this time the sun had come out and it started getting hot and sticky.  We had a little time before our next adventure so we found a cool place to sit.  Our last adventure of the day was to see the Festival of the Lion King.  It is a musical performance.  It was also well done and very enjoyable.

When this was over we slowly made our way back to the front of the park and onto the bus to head back to the campground.  My feet were really sore by this time and I was looking forward to putting them up in the recliner.  So I worked on this blog post.  Enjoy all the pictures.  There are over 100 of them.  Remember to double click on the pictures to go to a screen where you can enlarge them.  Tomorrow we head over to Fort Meyers.
