Lexington, SC

We have a long drive ahead of us today, 220 miles.  It is the longest we have had in awhile.  Also, it is terribly hot outside, in the high 90's and muggy.

We took off a little after 9:00 and traveled the back roads for about 100 miles until we got on I 20.  We were headed to a rest area just before Augusta, GA when the traffic came to a complete stop.  We turned on the CB and found out there was an accident about a mile ahead of us.  There were injuries, with at least on person being flown out on a helicopter.  Of course, the helicopter had to land on the highway.  When we finally drove by we could see a pickup truck and a full size car, like a Mercury, had been involved.  We wound up sitting on the highway for about 30 minutes.

The rest of the drive was uneventful and we made it to our campground with no further problems.  We are spending tonight and tomorrow night at the Barnyard RV in Lexington, SC.  It is located behind the Barnyard Flea Market, which we plan on visiting tomorrow.

When I called to make reservations they told me they only had overflow spaces left.  Actually, I could have a full hookup site for Friday but would have to move to overflow on Sat.  We just decided to stay in overflow since it had electric, water and cable.  Usually overflow is just an empty lot.

We did spend some time with the people across from us.  They are also fulltimers but have not been doing it as long as we have.  They were easy to talk with and they owned a Dynasty.

We had a simple dinner of turkey sliders with various side dishes.  It was light and good.

Everything finally cooled down just before we went to bed so that just using the fan was enough versus the air conditioner.

That was all for today.
