Happy Birthday Bill!!!

Our drive today was only 100 miles so we slept in a bit before getting things ready.  We decided to head across the street to the Country Diner for breakfast.  It is funny, after reading the reviews for this campground (I 75 RV), we thought Tifton was a small town and this was the only restaurant around.  Not so.  It is the only one at this exit but the town is one exit up.  Anyway, we also drove through the other RV park across the street called The Pines, just to check it out.  It was a decent stopover place but it has a lot of trees that would make satellite difficult.  Then we headed to the restaurant.  When we walked in we saw that the lady who ran the I 75 campground with her husband is also a waitress there!  Small world.  We enjoyed our breakfast and then headed back to the rig to get ready to leave.

All we really had to do was unplug the electric before we left.  We went back across the street to fuel up at the gas station there.  They have a separate diesel area for trucks so that made it easy for us.  Once fueled we hooked up the car and left.  It was a short drive up I 75 to the base.  We did miss the entrance we were suppose to go in as the sign on the right said gate 5 instead of gate 4.  As we passed it we saw the gate 4 above the gate, grrrr.  We pulled onto a side street and disconnected the car.  Then Bill followed me into the base and to the campground.  The office is closed as it is a holiday.  We found our paperwork and then headed to our site.  This campground has a lot of trees so we were unsure about our satellite dish.  Luckily our site had a gap between the trees and we were able to lock in.  We are here for a week.  The sites are $11 a night when you stay for 7 days.  We have some plans for visiting the area while we are here.  It will also give us a place to be for the 4th.

Bill took his normal walk around the campground and met some people having a picnic at the lake.  They said they thought we should be able to see the fireworks from there.  They don't do the fireworks on the 4th around here but on the 3rd.  They had a free concert with Darius Rucker but you had to get a free ticket back in April-May.  Since we didn't know about it we didn't get tickets.  Heck, back then we weren't even sure we were coming this way!  So about 9:00 we sprayed each other with Off! and walked down to the lake.  The folks invited us to join them and we had a nice talk before the fireworks,  We could just barely hear the band so I guess you could say we heard a Darius Rucker concert!  The fireworks started about 10:00 and we could see most of them.  The tree tops blocked some of the lower ones but it was a nice display.  We headed back to the rig and called it a night.  Oh, even though I sprayed bug repellent on one of the little buggers bit me either through my jeans or crawled up inside and bit me just above my knee.

I will have to take pictures of more of the park and base.  There are two lakes here and some buildings.

I hope everyone had a good day.
