Nashville, TN Day 1

Sunday, 8/30/2015
Seven Points COE Campground
Nashville, TN

The skies were overcast and grey when we got up today.  It was sprinkling as we disconnected the rig to move.  We were not in a big hurry as we only have about 60 miles to go.  We had decided to stop at the Cracker Barrel about 25 miles up the road for breakfast.  We left the park around 10:00 and hit the road.  When we got to the Cracker Barrel the parking lot was packed.  We forgot it was Sunday.  They are usually really busy on Sundays.  Luckily there was a truck stop just across the street so we made a u-turn in a gas station and parked at Stan's Restaurant in Columbia, TN.  The food was really good even though the service was a bit slow.  Since we were just killing time we didn't mind.  We passed this place the other day when we went to Marcy Jo's.  I wish we would have stopped here instead.  We would have had a much better meal.  I would absolutely stop here again.

Since it was Sunday the traffic around Nashville was light.  I think the rain helped.  We got to the campground around 12:30.  We are staying at Seven Points COE Campground outside of Nashville.  We usually stay here when we are in the area.  It is a Corps of Engineers park build on the lake formed by the J Priestly Park Dam.  We have site 42 which is really good for satellite.  We have stayed in site 44 before, which is also good for satellite.  We are going to walk the park and find all the sites good for satellite (sites 24 and 30 are also good).  We have a really good view of the lake.  The only thing needed here would be sewers for full hookups.  We have 50 amp electric and water.  There is a dump station at the entrance.

It rained off and on most of the rest of the day.  I spent time working on computer stuff and we watched the Little League World Series Championship game.  We were cheering for Pennsylvania but Japan pulled it out.  Congratulations to them.

Since we don't have sewer here I have to conserve water a bit.  That means short showers.  It is a nice place anyway.

I fixed chicken/shrimp fried rice for dinner.  A nice one pot meal.  I haven't made that in a long time.
We have decided to go to the Opry on Tuesday night.  They have a special show on Monday night that is being filmed but they only had standing room only seats left.  I don't feel like paying $40 a person to stand for over an hour.  Too bad as there are a lot of good people on that show.

We have been to Nashville many times and have done most of the tourist things.  We will probably go downtown one day this week but other than the Opry show I don't know what else we will do.

That is all for now.  More tomorrow.
