Lewisville, TX Day 1

Lewisville Lake Park Campground
Lewisville, TX

Today was one of our longer drives.  We drove 202 miles!  We don't usually travel on Saturdays but decided to this time.  We are in the Lewisville Lake Park Campground in Lewisville, TX.  It is a northern suburb of Dallas.  The campground is city owned and it is on a reservoir.  The price is exceptional - it is regular price of $18 for 50 amp, $16 for 30 amp.  If you are a senior the prices are half off!  We got power and water for $9 a day!  They don't have sewers but we are only going to be here for 2 nights.  We are using this as a base to visit the George Bush (43) Presidential Library.

There is a lot of road work going on so some exits are closed and there are a lot of detours.  I hope the highways get better as we go along.

We did find a place to stop and get gas.  All of the truck type stations are selling diesel for $2.49 a gallon.  If you can find a regular station with truck pumps or easy access, the price is between $2,19 - $2.29!  The truckers sure are getting ripped off!  We found a Valero with truck pumps and it was $2.19.  That was the cheapest we have found this year.  Gas around here is around $1.95!

After dinner we decided to go out to a frozen custard place.  It should have been a short 4 mile drive down one road.  Because of road work and detours it took over 7 miles and I don't know how many turns.  We went to a place called Freddy's Custard and Steakburgers.  The frozen custard was good but the service was horrible.  It appeared that they were dealing with the drive-thru people first and putting the people inside last.  We almost left when the wait got too long.

So that was today.  Tomorrow, off to the library.
