Glenwood Springs, CO

We drove through a lot of mountains today but our gas mileage wasn't too bad.  It was cool and we didn't need to run the air conditioner.  It was also a long drive of 260 miles.  Colorado doesn't have a lot of rest areas so it was difficult to find a place midway to stop at.  We did find chain up areas and noticed that cars and trucks were stopping there for a break, so we did too.  Not a lot of room for Lola to run around in but she got to stretch her legs.

The view was pretty good but we have decided that we don't like I70.  The road was pretty rough.  We will probably try to avoid it in the future.

My first choice of campground, River Dance, didn't have any openings so I found Ami's Acres.  We had to drive an additional 30 miles to get here.  When we passed River Dance the place looked empty but I guess he had reservations.  The place we are in is not too bad.  We would stop again if necessary but only for overnight.  The sites are tight and the hookups are odd.  The sewer is way behind the motorhome.  I don't know if we have a sewer hose that long.  We were able to get satellite in our site.

We did stop in the town of Gypsum to fuel up.  I found a Costco on the frontage road and it had diesel.  It was not busy, like they are at home, and we pulled right up.  We did have someone wait in line behind us even though there were other pumps open!  We took up both pumps in our lane.  The worker at the station finally told them to pick another line or sit there for a long time.  Silly people.

It is still cool so I only had to run the air for a little bit and then opened the windows.  I believe we will be heading down hill tomorrow and it will heat up.

We saw on the news that I15 is closed because of a fire,  I hope it gets controlled before we have to go that way.

River Dance has a bunch of spaces but the county won't let them use all of them until they get the proper permits. That's why they probably looked empty.
