Williams, AZ
Canyon Motel and RV Park

Once again we were up early.  This has to stop!  But when the sun comes up we wake up.  We hung around a bit before leaving as we only had about 180 miles to drive today.  It was warm all night long and already in the 80's in the morning.  Luckily, we are heading into the mountains for the next few days so it should cool off.  Last night we thought about making a small change to our schedule and staying 2 days in Williams, AZ instead of 2 in Gallup, NM.  But the RV park we were planning on staying in, Canyon Motel and RV Park, didn't have any PA sites available so we had to pay the higher price.  It was high enough that we didn't want to pay it for 2 nights.  We stayed at this park last year with the group.

We stopped in Kingman, AZ, at the Flying J for fuel.  This station has a weird layout and can be difficult to get into and out of.  We had our fingers crossed and there was nobody in the RV island and very few big trucks so getting in and out was easy.  Yeah!  Last year Terry had to go to another station since it was so crowded when we stopped here.  I guess it gets busy as it is the first Flying J inside Arizona and also the last one before hitting California and high prices.

The drive was uneventful except for some pretty banged up roads.  There was a bit of construction but they really need to work on smoothing out the road.

We actually got to the campground around noon and were able to check in.  Our site is 70 feet long so there is plenty of room.  Originally we were not going unhook the car but since it was so early we decided to take a drive into town and walk through the stores.  My foot survived being inside tennis shoes for the trip.  They have a lot of route 66 souvenirs in the stores here.

For dinner I fixed broiled chicken breast.  We are both trying to eat better.

It has cooled off enough that we don't need the air conditioner this evening.  Having the windows open keeps it nice.

Tomorrow we have a longer drive, about 220 miles to Gallup, NM.  We are staying for 2 days so I can do a bit of shopping and we can rest.  They have a Cracker Barrel in town so we will probably have dinner there one night.

So that is all for now.  Night.
