They have been warning about a snow storm all week. It started Friday night and continued through Sunday. We made sure we had plenty of groceries early in the week so we could avoid the crowds later in the week. It seems that everyone runs to get eggs, milk and bread on the day before the snow starts. We did go into the grocery store on Friday to get treats for Lola for the weekend. We didn't realize we didn't have any at home. The store was packed! Thank goodness for self checkout, we were able to get in and out quickly.
Nick and Aimee brought Rory and Lola over on Saturday afternoon to spend the night. It was Aimee's birthday and they were going out to dinner. They said the streets were being kept clear by the plows and it wasn't difficult to drive over. We enjoy having the "littles" overnight. Rory played and Lola enjoyed being held and scratched. Rory liked running around with my walker pretending it was a car. We had a good dinner and enjoyed playing some video games. I can't get on the floor and play right now so it limited what we could do.
On Sunday during one of the breaks in the snow, Rory and Bill went outside and tried to make a snowman. It was right around 30 degrees. They didn't have a lot of success since the snow was more of a powder but they tried. Rory made a snow angel. Lola also had fun in the snow. She like to jump around in it.
Bill measured the snow on our fence on the patio. It was 7 inches! That is the most we have had at one time since we moved here. The first picture was taken on Saturday morning and the second on Sunday morning.
While they were outside playing some older neighbor kids came by looking for work shoveling the driveway. They said $10-$15 but Bill paid them $20 since it was a lot of work and they did a good job. He is thinking about getting a snow blower but isn't sure he wants to pay $350 or more since we don't really get that much snow every year.
Nick and Aimee came over Sunday afternoon to pick up the "littles". They had a nice dinner and were surprised by the number of people who were at the restaurant. I guess snow doesn't impact driving a lot around here.
This week is suppose to be cold, around freezing each day, but we won't see anymore snow or rain until the next weekend. We will have to wait and see what happens.
I saw my ortho doctor on Thursday and he had another x-ray taken before surgery. I got a notice of the report and now it looks like there is a fracture in the bone now. Just what I needed. At least surgery is scheduled for Feb 6 and I am resting as much as possible. I am doing exercises to build muscle so we will see how things go.
I hope your winter is going well. Have a good one.
