So as I said last post, the week was dedicated to appointments. My rheumetologist had me stop my two arthritis drugs. She said two weeks before, the week of, and two weeks after the surgery. It has been one week so far and I am starting to really feel the last of drugs. I am popping a lot of Tylenol in the meantime. Bill had his hearing aids adjusted again and they changed the part that goes in the ear. He says he is hearing much better and I am not hearing feedback now.
Thursday we went to the hospital to do pre-op tests and paperwork. I had to be there at 9:25 and we didn't get out until around 2:00. The tests and paperwork were done by 10:45 and the class didn't start until noon so we went to the cafeteria for lunch. Nothing exciting there. Bill says he probably won't eat there when he comes to visit.
After lunch we went to the class. I have never had to take one of these before. Having been through two before I didn't expect much but this hospital has some different procedures. They gave me some special soap to take showers with before the surgery. I have to take two on Tuesday (one in the morning and one at night). I am suppose to use 2 washclothes and a clean towel for each shower. I am also suppose to put on clean pajamas and clean sheets for Tuesday night. Wednesday morning I take another shower and put on clean clothes to go to the hospital. They want me to bring 3 changes of clothes to the hospital. They don't make you wear a hospital gown after the first day. They also want me to ride home in the back seat of the car with my leg straight. You can't wear a seat belt that way so I am not happy about that. Anyway, it is only about 10 miles so riding in the front shouldn't be a problem. Heck, I rode from Yorba Linda to Hemet in the front after my last surgery. They don't like the walker I have, it is a nice one with wheels, a seat and brakes. They want me to use one of those old aluminum ones. Oh well, Medicare pays for it and it will go into storage soon. Can't wait to get the surgery though.
We saw the kids on Saturday. We had decent weather this weekend but it is going to get really cold this week with a possibility of below zero temps. It should last about 3 days. Good days to stay home but I am sick and tired of staying home.
So that is about it. Just waiting for surgery.
