It has been 2 1/2 weeks since surgery. I am walking with just a cane now. I can walk around the house without it but use it when we go somewhere I use the cane for stability. The Therapist says I am doing really good. I have full range of motion but I need to work on building strength. I start going to outside therapy on Monday.
I have discovered that I have a limit on the amount of time I can be out and about. Three hours is about it. I get tired after that and the pills I am taking make me sleepy. I usually have to take a nap in the afternoons. I am a side sleeper but can’t sleep that way yet so I am wake up a couple of times during the night. We went out to dinner last weekend with our camping group and were out for almost four hours. That was way too long.
I saw my orthopedic surgeon this week. He showed us the xrays on my knee. Wow, he did a lot of work. There is a really long metal rod going up and one going down to hold the knee in place. I always set off the alarms at airports before but now it will buzz as soo. As I get within 5 feet! The incision is healing just fine but I have to keep the peel and stick plastic on for awhile longer. He wants to be really careful with infection, especially since I have already had MRSA. I don’t go back to see him for a month. By then I should be mostly healed.
The weather has been pretty good. We have had a few snow days and a lot of rain days. One night we had over an inch of snow but then it turned to rain and the snow disappeared. In fact, it has been colder in Yorba Linda than it has been here.
We are planning on taking Rory to the movies next week to see How to Train Your Dragon. Our theater has recliners so it will be comfortable. I hope he likes the movie. He gets off school at around 11:00 so there is plenty of time in the afternoon to go.
So that is all for now. We will start going out soon as I am getting cabin fever!
