Winter has arrived

So what has been happening?  We had Rory stay overnight with us so that Nick and Aimee could go out for their anniversary.  We played some games and had a good time.  We don’t get him as much anymore as he likes to stay home and play with his friends.

Halloween was fun. We went to the kids house for an open house.  Aimee made chili, mummy hot dogs, hot apple cider along with add-ins for it.  I made pasta with meatballs for the kids, eyeball brownies and mini m&m cookies.  We also had a lot of candy to give out.  Nick started a fire I. Their Solo fire pit.  It kept us warm. We did get some rain about 5:30 but it let up a little after 6:00 so the kids could go out.  The neighbors from across the street brought over their candy too so kids who came to the house got a lot of candy!

We brought the rig over on Sunday as we were going camping on Tuesday.  It was our last campout before winterizing the rig and putting it to bed. We had a couple of things we needed checked so the shop is doing that for us.  I am thinking about replacing the awning material as it is all moldy.  The current awning doesn’t have the metal cover on it so it gets wet and stays that way over the winter.  We clean it every year but the mold keeps coming back. The only way to fix it is to replace it.  I will find out how much that will cost and make a decision over the winter.  That way it will be ready for next years camping season.

Our last campout was the first week of Nov.  We went over to Florence, IN. To a campground calls Follow The River.  The weather was really nice, in fact it was down right warm, staying in the 70’s all week.  Only problem was that I packed warmer clothes instead of short sleeve tops!  We went on Tuesday and enjoyed the extra day.  We got to watch everyone else park on Wednesday.  We went to dinner at a local spot on Tuesday and had a nice dinner.  I made soup and sandwiches on Wednesday night.  Thursday we tried to go out to breakfast.  The two spots in town were closed so we tried the casino/hotel.  They didn’t really have a restaurant for breakfast but did have a small shop that had a limited breakfast menu so that is what we had.  Everything was served “to go”. Thursday night we did go to the casino restaurant for dinner and had a good meal.  Friday was a potluck and I made blueberry bread pudding and every bit got eaten.  Many people asked for the recipe.  Saturday was the chili dinner.  I made navy bean soup instead of chili and all of that got eaten too.  We had a number of fires over the weekend and had a good time visiting with our friends.

Many of the local restaurants had free meals for Veterans Day.  We had breakfast at Scramblers and dinner at Firebirds.  Good thing we made reservations for Firebirds as they were telling people who walked I. That they didn’t have any availability until 10:00 PM and this was at 3:00!  Bill had ribs and clam chowder.  He didn’t particularly like the chowder as it was picky.  That was funny as I had chicken tortilla soup and it wasn’t spicy!  😜

Yesterday it was 69 degrees and rainy.  Today it is going to be 40 degrees and it is snowing!  I guess winter is here. The highs this week will be in the high 30’s, low 40’s all week.  Guess this means we will need to go to the YMCA to walk instead of around the neighborhood.

I am having thanksgiving dinner 🦃 at our house.  I ordered most everything from Dorothy Lane stores so all I have to do is warm it up.  I am too old to cook all that stuff myself,  also, we don’t need that much food so this works best for us.  Aimee will do Christmas at her house.

I have been starting to think about what to get for Christmas and birthday presents this year.  The kids haven’t given many ideas yet.

So that is all for now.  Take care.
