Trip part 3

Saturday July 8 - last full day on the ship.  We are headed to Victoria BC but won’t arrive there until later at night.  We went to brunch in the dining room at 10:00.  T&C came too.  It want a buffet, just different dishes from the regular breakfast.  It was very good.  Afterward we walked around the ship.  T&C did a 3 mile walk for charity, my hip was really bothering me so we watched but didn’t participate.  We found an elephant when we returned to our room.

We sat on the veranda until dinner.  Our last dinner on the ship.  Here it is.

Spring roll appetizer

Rustic lasagne

Crab carbonara

Chicken with puréed carrots

Chocolate cake

Apple dessert

Baked Alaska

We docked in Victoria later in the evening and headed to our horse drawn trolly for a quick tour.  The ship is only docked here for about 4 hours.

We were back on the ship and finished our packing.  We had to have our checked bags outside the door by midnight.  I hope I didn’t forget anything

Sunday July 9 - our disembark time was between 8:45-9:15 but they called our group about 30 minutes early.  We grabbed our bags and headed out.  The process was very smooth and we located our checked bags and went through customs with no problems.  Terry jumped on the shuttle to go get the car wile Cathye, Bill and I waited with the bags.  He returned soon and the bags got loaded.  We had the return trip of 4-5 hours to get through.  We did make a stop for potty’s and snacks.  When we got further along we stopped for lunch at a restaurant that was pretty good.  Soon we were back at the house and exhausted.  Everyone was in bed before 9:00.

Monday July 10 - we went out to breakfast this morning and Terry drove around to show us more of the area.  Back at the house we packed as much as we could then went to a local winery for linner.  It was a very nice meal.  T&C bought a bottle of wine but I tried the flight of reds they had.  They like lighter, sweeter wines and I like dry reds.  Back at the house we decided to play dominoes for awhile and had snacks for dinner.  It was a wild, competitive game.  Tomorrow is a long day for us so Bill and I went to bed.

Tuesday July 11 - our flight is at 1:15 but we are meeting Penny (Terry’s sister) and her boyfriend for breakfast near the airport.  We plan to meet them at 9:00 so off we went.  Breakfast was good. I had biscuits and gravy and enjoyed it.  Soon we were at the airport and saying our goodbyes.  We checked our bags and headed to our gate.  Of course it was on the opposite side of the airport.  The flight out of Eugene was smooth and took about 1 1/2 hours.  We decided to go ahead and pay for first class for this trip and it was nice.  We had about 2 hours of a layover in Salt Lake City.  Bill took a picture of the lake when we flew over it.

Not bad for a picture taken from a plane.  Salt Lake airport is doing some construction so our plane from Eugene parked away from the terminal and we had to take a bus to the main terminal.  We came into the B terminal and our flight was out of the A terminal, of course.  We found our gate, visited the restrooms and waited to board.  The flight was not bad we had some turbulence but not too bad.  For dinner on the flight we had short ribs, mashed potatoes, salad, asparagus and a cheesecake with fruit.  I had a glass of wine.  It was very good for airplane food.  The flight to Cincinnati is about 3 1/2 hours but we must have had a tail wind as we got in about 30 minutes early.  Soon we had our luggage and we’re on the shuttle to the parking lot.  That wasn’t cheap but we were soon on the freeway and headed home.  We arrived about 12:30, unpacked the necessary things and went to bed.  Our travels are over. Hope you liked the posts.
