Monday July 31 - We got the rig out of storage today, parked it by the house and plugged it in. We loaded some of the stuff I had collected into it. I won’t put food most of the food in u til Wednesday morning. Not much else happened.
Tuesday Aug 1 - morning class today, it will be our only class this week. We did stop by the grocery store to pick up last minute things. We ate various things for dinner trying to get the fridge emptied. In the evening I put most of the food into the fridge since it was cold. We leave it tomorrow.
Wednesday Aug 2 - we were up and ready to go this morning. We left around 10:30 to head to Whispering Hills Rv in Georgetown, KY. It is 104 miles away mostly by freeway. I don’t like crossing the bridge over the river but we have to do it. We got in about 12:30 got parked and setup. It is warm and muggy here but not too bad in the shade. The group went out for dinner at Cattlemen’s Restaurant. Bill and I had already selected it as the place we wanted to go. We always got out to dinner the first night when we arrive. They had a really nice salad bar and my steak was very good. We found out the group didn’t get reserva For the Toyota tour so we decided to try going on our own.
Thursday Aug 3 - we decided to head to Evans Orchard & Cider Mill. The mill was closed but we went into the store they had. We bought some peaches, cider donuts, and had fried apple pies with ice cream. The pies were warm and very good. I wanted to get some cider but they only had gallons and they wouldn’t fit in my fridge. I wanted a half gallon. They had a lot of things for kids but we didn’t do that. Afterward we drove over to the Toyota tour area. We planned to ask if they had cancellations for Friday or Saturday but they said we could get in on the next tour which was starting immediately. We said great, gave them our id, put our phones in a locker (you can’t take phones or cameras on the tour). When we walked into the video area we expected to see people waiting on us. Surprise! We were the only ones so we got a private tour! It was really good and the guide was informative. You go on a tram for the tour of the manufacturing floor. Here is a picture of the entrance to the visitor center.
After the tour we made a quick stop at Walmart to pick up garlic bread for Saturday nights dinner. They didn’t have any so I was able to order some to pick up tomorrow. Back at the campground everyone was jealous that we got on a tour. Back at the rig I made reservations for a horse park tour tomorrow morning. We didn’t go out for dinner, I cooked turkey sliders for dinner and we had soup with it. We sat around and talked in the evening with everyone.
Yes, they have a graveyard there. They cremate the horses and bury the ashes there. It used to be tradition to bury the head, heart and hoofs but they cremate instead now. We learned a lot and they take really good care of the horses once they retire from racing and stud work. After the tour we drove over to Walmart and picked up the garlic bread then headed back to the campground. Since we were so hot and tired we took a nap. Tonight’s dinner is heavy appetizers. I took deviled eggs and those little frozen tacos. I had a couple eggs left and took them back to the rig. They make good egg salad sandwiches. I played cards with the ladies and then we sat around and solved all the problems of the world before bedtime.
